Challenge

Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

1)

Aim:

For EV_defaults_in file, with the cargo mass of 500KG, with all the default condition and using Cycle_FTP as a drive cycle

Observation:

The FTP drive cycle model,

For 1 drive cycle, the distance covered is 17.8KM

For 2 drive cycle, the distance covered is 35.5KM

For 3 drive cycle, the distance covered is 41.4KM

The maximum distance covered is 41.4KM.

Conclusion:

So the vehicle can travel only upto 41.4KM. The vehicle cannot travel 45KM.

2)

Aim:

Changing the battery capacity and observing the result:

Observation:

For battery capacity of 10 KW,

The distance can be travelled is 12.3Km

For battery capacity of 15 KW,

The distance can be travelled is 17.7Km

For battery capacity of 35 KW,

The distance can be travelled is 17.8Km

Conclusion:

It can be concluded that with respect to the change in battery capacity, the travel distance can be varied. Increase in battery capacity increases travel distance. Decrease in capacity leads to decrease in travel distance.

3)

Aim:

Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file.

Observation:

Model of PRIUS_JPN_defaults_in.

Adding the gradeability test:

Changing the speed of the vehicle for checking the gradeability.

For Speed=45mph/72.4Kmph,

Gradeability=2.2%

For Speed=55mph/88.5Kmph,

Gradeability=1.7%

For Speed=65mph/104.6Kmph,

Gradeability=1.2%

For Speed=75mph/120.7Kmph,

Gradeability=0.7%

Comparison:

Speed(mph)

Gradeability(%)

45

2.2

1.7

65

0.7

Conclusion:

From the above observations, it is found that increase in speed leads to decrease in gradeability.
