Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
AIM 1:
For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.
Solution :
Open the advisor tool and start to open the vehicle input in Advisor Simulator.
Search for EV_defaults from load file and click to open.
Now change the parameter like Cargo Mass to 500 Kg as required.

Now click continue to open the simulation parameters which consistes of different drive cycle and to create an individual own drive cycle by giving different data to the simulink parameter like acceleration test, gradeability test parametric study etc.
Now search for CYC_FTP File from drive cycle list in the advisor tool and select it.

Now click Run to get the Result

Conclusion:
For the above conditions with cargo mass value 0f 500kg vehicle cannot travel 45 km but travel only 17.8 km
In the default ondition with cargo mass 136kg vehicle can travel 48.2 km
So increase in mass value leads to power value decrease in greater distance.
Objective 2 :
In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
Default battery module:

If battery capacity is below 25 modules which is 20 modules:

For number of cycles equal to 1 ,distance travelled is 17.8km

For number of cycles equal to 2 ,distance travelled is 33.5km

For number of cycles equal to 3 ,distance travelled is 33.5km

For number of cycles equal to 4 ,distance travelled is 33.5km

If the battery capacity is above 25 modules that is 30 modules :

For number of cycles is equal to 1, distance travelled is 17.8km

For number of cycles is equal to 2, distance travelled is 35.5km

For number of cycles is equal to 3, distance travelled is 49.1km

For number of cycles is equal to 4, distance travelled is 49.1km

Conclusion :
Whenever the battery capacity is less than 25 modules, the distance travelled is less
Whenever the battery capacity is more than 25 modules, the distance travelled is more .
If energy is more distance travelled is more and if energy is less the distance travelled is less.
Objective 3:
Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
Compare your results in table and conclude.
Solution :
Open Advisor tool and clisk on the load option and select Prius_jpn_defaults

Click continue and select Grade options
Keep speed value at 55mph and consider All system enabled.

Gradeability at 55mph

Now perform the same simulation with different speeds of 40mph,45mph,50mph,60mph and see the results
At 40mph gradeability is 11.7%
At 45mph gradeability is 10.7%
At 50mph gradeability is 9.7%
At 60mph gradeability is 8.1%
Conclusion :
If speed is less gradeability is more and when speed is more gradeability is less so speed and gradeability percentage are inversly proportional to each other .
