Week 3 Challenge

AIM:- To state the basic inputs in STAADPro and to draw a given model.

1.1State the primary load cases to be considered for design

-Deal load, live load, earthquake load, wind load

1.2 What is One – Way slab?

-Whos l/b is more than 2, and bending occurs only in one direction

1.3 What is the value of unit weight of structural steel and soil?

-steel=7840kg/m^3

Soil=18kN/m^3

1.4 Name few sections that can be defined using Properties tab in STAAD Pro.

-Rectangular, circular ,Tee section.

1.5 Define Primary Beams.

Beams which rests on column and transfer slab load to column.

2.1 State the factors and parameters that influence the design pressure intensity of a high-rise building.

-K1=Risk factor

K2=Terrain ,height factor

K3=Topography factor

2.2 Mention the load transfer process of a Reinforced Concrete Building.

-Slab load>secondary beam>primary beam>column>foundation.

3.1 Differentiate One-Way and Two way slabs. Elaborate each slab type.

-l/b ratio is used to differentiate between two types of slabs,

l/b<2- two way

bending occurs in direction,

l/b>2- one way

bending occurs in both direction, curvature in both direction.

3.2 Explain the concept of secondary beams with proper sketch.

-A horizontal beam connecting primary beams and transferring to them only.

3.3 Mention the Primary load cases.

  1. A) State the Indian Standards for each load case

-Dead load=IS 875:Part1

Live load=IS 875:Part2

Wind load=IS 875:Part3

Seismic load=IS1893

  1. B) Detail the parameters of each load case

-Dead load depend on the materials used in the construction of the building, it also have a sub part as superimposed dead load as, any machinery is used in the building.

-live load depends on the purpose the building serves

-wind and earthquake loads depends on the location of the building.

  1. C) Brief each load case

-load cases are the different types of load which are going to occur on the structure, and we combine them as to the worst possible load on the building.

3.4 Detail the steps involved in assigning Properties and Support to a model using STAAD Pro sequentially.

-To go properties tab, define new property as per requirement, like section be rectangular, circular, ect.

- click on assign, there are many option by which we can assign the property.

-Same is the case with the support condition, we need to define the support first then assign it in the same Way as of the properties.

3.5 Brief the steps to be followed to create and assign secondary beams in STAAD Pro

-Go to specification tab,select beam, and make free the rotations and assign it to the beam.

PRACTICAL:-

PRACTICAL:-

Wind calculation, VZ=47*1*K2*1

3m>41.63m/s=>Pz(kN)= 1.026

6m> 41.36m/s=>Pz=1.026

9m>41.63m/s=>Pz=1.026

12m>43.052m/s=>Pz=1.112

15m>44.18m/s=>Pz=1.171

16m>44.2m/s=>Pz=1.18

RESULT:-STAADPro is useful for quick analysis of structures, hand calculation of small problems will take relatively more time.
