Introduction :
There are four components in the assembly of the hood model given namely Inner hood , outer hood , two hinges and a lock .
Procedure :
Geometric topology :
1.The given part is separated into four components which are kept in separate using the lock view.
2.The separated component is checked for geometrical errors using the checks manager.
3.The Errors which are displayed is cleared using the tools available in hot points, cons faces and surface.

Midsurface Extraction :
1.The Midsurface of Each component is extracted separately.
2.For outer hood, latch and hinges the midsurface is extracted using Tool Midsurface skin option in FACES module since they are closed volumes and had uniform thickness and less features.
3.For Inner hood midsurface is extracted manually by using the Offset option in FACES module because it had more fillet features.
The Extracted Midsurfaces are as follows :
Outer hood Midsurface :

Inner hood Midsurface :

Hinge Midsurface :

Assigning the Shell property and thickness :
The Shell property of Each of the component of hood is given a new PID with the outer and inner hood having a thickness of 0.75mm and the hinges and latch having a thickness of 1.2mm

MESHING :
1.Once again geometric check is performed using the checks manager.
2.The given quality criteria and mesh parameters values are enters.
3.Mesh is generated using the best mesh option.
4.The component is checked for quality criteria which is achieved by using various tools available in the modules like Cut, join, Num +/-, Reconstruct , Smooth etc.,
5.Smooth mesh flow is achieved, the meshed model of the hood as follows.
Outer hood meshed :

Inner hood meshed :

Latch and Hinge Meshed :

LEARNING OUTCOMES :
1.Learnt about the various tools of ANSA.
2.Able to clear the geometrical errors in the given model
3.Able to extract the mid surface both manually and through the midsurface option. and assign the thickness to the extracted surfaces.
4.Able to attain a Smooth mesh of the given component to clear the quality citeria.
Conclusion :
The given Hood of the car is Imported into ANSA , the geometrical errors are fixed and checked then the midsurface is extracted and asigned thickness finally the midsurface is meshed successfully by clearing the quality criteria.
