Week 2 Railwheel and Track
Railwheel and Track
AIM:
Case 1: Multiply the bearing load by 5 times and compare the results with the load of 100000 N (As done in week 2 video). Compare the Total Deformation, Equivalent stress, and the life under both the loads
PROCESS:
- Download the file and import into geometry of static structural in ansys
- Add the material in engineering data
-

- Open the model and update before that
-

- After opening check the material for both the gears in geometry section
- Keep the stifness behivaour as Flexiable as this is gone a Translate

- Connections are made using contacts & Joints
- Incontacts select the track & Wheel surfaces joints that will be contact

- In Second case select Wheel & Shaft surfaces joints that will be contact (Keep it frictionaless)

- In joints:
- Fix the track

- Provide translation to shaft

- Provide plane for wheel as it should not move

- Keep mesh as defalt and face size the contact surfaces

- In static structure we made the steps as 10 for better results

- Put the given bearig load as given 100000N

- Provide displacement for the joint

- In solution insert the required analysis that needs to be done

- For the bearing load by 5 times duplicate the current static structural

- Open model and change the bearing load as given & clear the solution and go for solve

- Multiply the bearing load by 5 times and compare the results with the load of 100000 N (As done in week 2 video). Compare the Total Deformation, Equivalent stress, and the life under both the loads

| FOR the load of 100000 N | FOR the load of 500000 N | |
| Total Deformation | 562.12MM | 624.96MM |
| Equivalent stress | 109.83MPa | 257.03MPa |
| LIFE | 1e^6 | 1e^6 |
Case 2: Implement a User-defined result and calculate the Total Deformation from this result and check if it is the same as that obtained by the inbuilt result by ANSYS for a load of 100000 N.
Total Deformation from this result by ansys

User-defined result

- CASE 1 CONCLUSION:
- By the data observation we can say that :
- The total deformation length has increased by 62.84mm as the load has increased to 500000 N
- The Equivalent stress has increased by 147.2MPa as the load has increased to 500000 N
- Life expected of both loads is same
CASE 2 CONCLUSION:
YES BOTH ARE SAME
