Week 2 - Flow over a Cylinder.

                                                                                                                  FLOW OVER A CYLINDER

AIM: To simulate flow over a cylinder under both steady and unsteady conditions. considering various reynolds number ie., 10,100,1000,10000. also to get, drag, lift & stroural number.

PART 1:

A) Steady condition:

Considering reynolds number as 100 ie., inlet velocity is 2.5m/s.

Mesh: 0.25m.

                                                              Scaled residuals

                                                   Vertex avg velocity(m/s)

                                                             Contour of velocity

                                                       Contour of pressure

                                                       Coefficient of drag

                                                      Coefficient of lift

                                                        Strouhal number

B)UNSTEADY CONDITION:

Considering reynolds number as 100 ie., inlet velocity is 2.5m/s.

Mesh: 0.25m.

PART 2

AIM:  To find coefficient of drag and lift for Re 10,100,1000,10000 &100000.

A) Re = 10, V= 0.25m/s

B) Re = 100, V = 2.5m/s

C) Re = 1000, V =25m/s

D)Re = 10000, V =250m/s

E)Re = 100000, V =2500m/s

Renolds number VS Coefficient of drag

Re Cd
10 0.1706
100 6.9482
1000 327.64
10000 3611.797
100000 3301691
