Week 2 Challenge : Surface meshing on a Pressure valve
The given model have some geometric distortions which will prevent as from getting the right results while we run an analysis.
In order to fix the issues I have done a geometry cleanup.
First I have created faces where ever its missig.
For that I used New faces from the TOPO module.
Under New faces we have four different algorithams: Existing Surf, Planar, Fitted, Coons
When ever there is a part missing in an existing surface I used 'Esisting Surf" option.
To Create a plane face I used the Planar Surface option
After finishing with surfaces, I have assigned PID's to different region.
Then I checked the topo whether any single CONS which I missied to create a face
To Create PID, click PID icon from top icons and in the new window ,right click in free space and select new-> PSHELL->PSHELL
I created PID's naming Column, valve head, Base Surface, spring, Body, Inlet, Outlet.
After creating the PID's I assigned the PID's to the surfaces according to their name.
Then deleted the empty PID named SHELL Property.
Now I stated with meshing at 5mm as target. I put min length as 3mm and Max length as 7mm.
Next I created mesh with target length as 3mm and min length as 1mm and Max Length as 4mm
Then I created mesh with target lenth as 1mm and min lenth as 0.5mm and Max length as 2mm.
Of allthe 3 mesh size 1mm mesh resembles close to the model and will give a good result.
Finer the mesh better thr geometry capturing and in turn more accurate results
