Week 2 : Basic Calibration of Single cylinder SI-Engine
Assignment no 2
TASK 1 = Run the case at 1800 rpm
- air flow rate
- BMEP
- BSFC
- In-cylinder pressure
- Air flow rate-
Air Flow Rate [kg/h] = 24.6

- BMEP-
IMEP [bar] =10.61
FMEP [bar] = 1.13
BMEP= IMEP-FMEP
= 10.61-1.13
= 9.48 BAR

3.BSFC –
BSFC [g/kW-h] - 239.2

- In cylinder pressure-
Maximum Pressure [bar] = 48.89

Task - 2. Increase the power output at 3600 rpm by 10%
At 3600 rpm the results are as follow -
- Brake Power [kW] 7
- Brake Torque [N-m] 3
- Fuel Flow Rate [kg/h] 0
- BSFC [g/kW-h] 8

Now to achieve 10% Inc. in power I have did these following changes
Case1 case 2
MBF50 Anchor Angle (def = 50% burn) 8 12
dur_comb Duration (def = 10% to 90%) 25 20
cr Compression Ratio 9.5 15

OUTPUT

Results case 1 case 2
Brake Power [kW] 16.7 18.3
Brake Torque [N-m] 44.3 48.5
Fuel Flow Rate [kg/h] 4.0 4.0
BSFC [g/kW-h] 241.8 217.4
Remarks – To achieve the 10% more power compression ratio is inc to 15 but it may lead to detonation in engine.
