Week 1 : Exploring the GUI of GT-POWER
AIM- Exploring the GUI of GT-POWER
Task-1
GT Suite-
GT suite is a software that is developed by gamma technologies and it is broadly used for simulation and analysis in different industries.
GT suite have these folowing module- 1.GT-Post- GT post is basically used for plot representation after completion of simulation.which covers 2d and 3d plots. it help in comparsion of different parameters.
2.GEM 3D COOL 3D - Gem 3d tool is basicallly used for designing of intake an exhaust system which covers its all parts as well. it is preprocessing software of gt power.
3.VT DESIGN- Vt design is basically used for analysis of valve train and cam profile study.
4.GT-SPACE CLAIM- Its is used for to import cad model in the GT suit software. It can be used for these following system
Intake and Exhaust Manifolds
Vehicle Cooling Systems
Lubrication Systems
Fuel Injection Systems
5.CONVERGE 3D LITE - Its help in better 3d study of simulation results of gt suite.
6. GT TAITHERM - GT-TAITherm is a tool help in study conduction, convection and radiation of body.
Task -2
Time control flag = It is loacted under run setup command in time control folder.
-
Time step and solution control = It is loacted under run setup command in flow control folder.

Integrator/Solver type= It is loacted under run setup command in ODE control folder.

Task -3
Explore intercooler tutorial and note down all settings of:
- Run setup
- Advanced setup
- Plot setup
- Output setup
1. Run setup

2. Advanced setup

3. Plot setup

4. Output setup

Task 4 -
- Calculate the Average heat transfer at Charge air cooler (CAC)
- Calculate pressure drop across CAC
Given
- Diameter of cooler inlet and outlet pipe= 50 mm
- Length of the CAC= 1000 mm
- Inlet mass flow rate = 1200 kg/ h at 100 degC
- Outlet pressure 2 bar at 30 deg C
Given parameter for cooler inlet-

Given parameter for cooler -

Given parameter for cooler outlet-

Remarks - Simulation is run for 0.7 seconds to achieve steady state. It was 0.5 seconds in initial run.

Results = Pressure drop across CAC

Heat transfer across CAC
