1. The purpose of this simulation was to model the behaviour of an electromagnet and bell system when a switch is closed for 2 seconds and then released.

Blocks used:

  • Solenoid
  • Battery
  • Switch
  • Pulse Generator
  • Scope

Pulse Generator

The rest of the blocks are default.

Output

i. Pulse Generator

2. The objective is to design a temperature sensing and fan control system using a thermistor. The system is intended to monitor a heater's temperature and control the fan's operation based on specified temperature conditions.

Blocks Used:

  1. Thermistor: Used to sense the temperature of the heater.
  2. Controlled Temperature Source:
The temperature source was simulated to follow the specified conditions:
    • 20ºC (or 293.15K) from 0 to 10 seconds
    • 27ºC (or 300.15K) from 10 to 30 seconds
    • 23ºC (or 296.15K) from 30 to 50 seconds

Simulink Model

Output

Temperature Profile:

The plot above illustrates the temperature profile of the heater over the simulation duration. The temperature follows the specified conditions, reaching 20ºC, 27ºC, and 23ºC during time intervals.

Fan Operation:

The plot above shows the operation of the fan based on the temperature conditions. The fan is turned ON when the temperature exceeds 25ºC and turned OFF otherwise.

Conclusion

The simulation successfully demonstrated the operation of the temperature sensing and fan control system using a thermistor. The fan responded appropriately to changes in temperature, turning ON when the temperature exceeded 25ºC and turning OFF otherwise.
