Week -2
Aim:
1. To make a simulink model of Doorbell using solenoide block.
2. Use a thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan as per the below conditions:
Given Inputs: Temperature source:
20 °C from 0 to 10 seconds,
27 °C from 10 to 30 seconds,
23 °C from 30 to 50 seconds
Fan conditions: ON if the temperature above 25 °C, OFF otherwise
OBJECTIVES:
1. Create a simulink model of Doorbell using Solenoide Block.Operate the door bell simulink model system and plot the results.
2. Use a thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan as per the given conditions. Run the simulink Model as per the conditions and plot the results.
1. DOORBELL
Simulink Model:

Simulink Model Explaination:
Block used:
Following blocks are used in simulink to make this project.
- The Pulse Generaor block generates square wave pulses at regular intervals. The block wavwforms parameters Amplitude, pulse width, period and phase delay determine the shape of the output waveform.
- The Switch block is used to controlled by external physical signal. If the external signal is greaer than the threshold parameter then the switch is closed, otherwise switch is open.
- The positie terminal of the switch is connected to switch and the negative terminal is connected to electrical reference.
- The solenoide block is connected with switch and battery and we will get a complete electrical circuit. The port c is connected with mechanical reference.
- The ideal translational sensor is connected with solenoide block R to observe the movement of plunger.
- Scope is conneted with the ideal translational sensor to get the output.
- PS simulink convertor is used to convet the physical signal to simulink signal.
- Solver configuration: Each physical network represented by a connected simscape blocks requires solver setting information for simulink.
Result:
Input Pulse Rate
Time period given is 2 seconds to he pulse generator to open and close the switch. When the switch is closed to solenoide blocks receive electrical power from the battery and the plunger move from R to C to hit the bell and produce sound.
Simulink Model Output
Here can sense the physical moment of the pluger as result shown below the graph.

2.Thermistor
Given Inputs:
Temperature source:
20 °C from 0 to 10 seconds,
27 °C from 10 to 30 seconds,
23 °C from 30 to 50 seconds
Fan conditions: ON if the temperature above 25 °C, OFF otherwise
Simulink Model:

Simulink model Explaination:
Signal Builder is used to input the values as per the given conditions:
At point 1,Time =0 seconds,Tempreture= 293 K
At point 2,Time =10 seconds,Tempreture= 293 K
At point 3,Time =10 seconds,Tempreture= 300 K
At point 4,Time =30 seconds,Tempreture= 300 K
At point 5,Time =30 seconds,Tempreture= 296 K
At point 6,Time =50 seconds,Tempreture= 296 K
Controlled tempreture source represent an ideal source of thermal energy, that can maintain the controlled tempreture difference regardless of the heat flow rate. The temperature difference is set by the physical signal port S. A positive temperature difference causes the tempreture at port B to be grether than the tempreature at port A.
Thermistor is the type of resistor whose resistance is based upon tempreature.
A linear resistor is used to in order to control the amount of current from the battery.
The voltage sensor is used to convert the voltage measured between two points into a physical signal.
voltage source with represent dc or ac
electrical reference block is given
Solver Configuration:Each physical network represented by a connected simscape blocks requires solver setting information for simulink.
Output :

For 0-10 secs fan is in off condition ,because temperature is 293K which is below 298K. After 10 secs temperature goes to 300K,so fan willbe turn ON, because temperature exceeds 298K. After 30 secs fan will be turn OFF, because temperature goes to 296K which is below 298K.
From the above results the given condition has been acheived and succesfully executed.
