Week -2
Aim : Make a Simulink model of Doorbell using solenoid block and Use a thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan.
Door bell:
A doorbell is a signaling device typically placed near a door to a building's entrance. When a visitor presses a button the bell rings inside the building, alerting the occupant to the presence of the visitor. Although the first doorbells were mechanical, activated by pulling a cord connected to a bell, modern doorbells are electric, operated by a pushbutton switch. Modern doorbells often incorporate intercoms and miniature video cameras to increase security.
The chime door bell uses a solenoid to generate the noise. Solenoid is an electromagnet with wire winding and a small metal piston inside it. The piston is attached to a spring assembly inside the wire winding. When electric current flows through the wire, electromagnetic field is generated which pulls the metal piston towards it. The metal piston hits the tone bar located on both the sides of the arrangement. When the door bell button is released, the spring snaps the piston back to its original position and the piston hits the tone bar on the other side of the arrangement. The two tone bars are made and arranged in such a way that the hitting action produces a ding-dong sound.

Inside a clapper doorbell. Press the button (red) and the electromagnets (green) attract the clapper (yellow). As the clapper moves in, it breaks the circuit and its mounting spring lets it spring back out again. The process repeats until you let go off the button.
1.Simulink model of Doorbell using solenoid block

- First the signal for switch created by using pulse generator.
- The circute connected with battery for the electic source and the entire circute connected with reference block.
- The solinoide block connected with the circute and the physical elements were connected with both ideal translational motion sensor and mechanical reference point.
- The sensor identify the motion and passes the signal to ps to simulink convertor.
- Then the singnals were displayed.
Results:

2.

- In the above simulink model input source was signal builder, which consiste of following signal
- Then the signals were converted by simulink-ps converter and sent to temperature source.
- The temerature input sent to thermistor and the circute consiste of voltage meter to get the voltage data
- Then the datas were converted into simulink singnals for the switch
- The switch has a two conditions which is 0 and 1. By this conditions that is worked to control the dc motor
- DC motor connected with the ideal rotational motion sensor then the outputs were got as follows
