Week 2 challenge

1. Make a Simulink model of Doorbell using solenoid block with the following details:

Create a situation where the switch is closed for 2 seconds and then released. Observe the physical movement of the plunger

>Simulink model of Doorbell using solenoid block:

>Blocks Used:

  1. Pulse Generator
  2. Simulink-PS
  3. Battery
  4. Switch
  5. Electrical Reference
  6. Solver Configuration
  7. Solenoid
  8. Ideal Translational Motion Sensor
  9. Mechanical Translational Reference
  10. PS-Simulink
  11. Scope

All these blocks are connected as per the block diagram shown in the above figure.

Output Results:

>Physical movement of the plunger on a given condition:

(Here we could clearlu see the Plunger Vibrations over given condition)

It can be clearly seen that as soon as the switch closes for 2 second, Solinoid operates and the physical movement of the plunger occurs. which leads to a ringing of a doorbell.

>Zoom-in observations of the plunger:

(Here we can clearly see the plunger vibrations)

2.Use a thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan as per below conditions:

Temperature source: 20 °C from 0 to 10 seconds, 27 °C from 10 to 30 seconds, 23 °C from 30 to 50 seconds.

Fan conditions: ON if the temperature above 25 °C, OFF otherwise

> Simulink Model:

>Blocks Used:

  1. Repeating Sequence Stair OR Signal Builder
  2. Simulink-PS
  3. Controlled Temperature Source
  4. Thermistor
  5. Battery or Voltage Source
  6. Resistor
  7. Voltage sensor
  8. PS-Simulink
  9. Switch
  10. Contants
  11. Scope
  12. Display
  13. Electrical Reference
  14. Solver Configuration
  15. Thermal Reference

All these blocks are connected as per the block diagram shown in the above figure,

>Output of Repeating Sequence Stait:

(here we can observe the output of Repeating Sequence Stait.)

Output Results:

>Simulation output on a given condition:

(Here we could clearly see the output results of the fan on a given condition)

It can be claerly seen that the fan was on only when the temperature exceeds a value of 25 degree celsius, or-else the fan was in the off state.
