ASSEMBLY OF BUTTERFLY VALVE USING BY NX_CAD

A butterfly valve regulates the flow by starting slowing or stopping a media. The disc open and close with a low torque of 90 and works on any compactible applications. Because of their low cost and maintenance is preferred over all the other valve.

The assembly of butterfly valve includes :

  • Body of butterfly valve.
  • Shaft.
  • Disc plate.
  • Screw of Disc plate.
  • Lever handle.
  • Top flange.
  • Screw of Top flange.
  • Nut.

All part are created and save individually.

  • Shaft.

  • Disc plate.

  • Screw of Disc plate.

  • Lever handle.

  • Top flange.

  • Screw of Top flange.

  • Nut.

Assembly of the parts :

Created a assembly workbench and then parts are added one by one in the same assembly workbench.

After added the all parts then each have separate coordinated system and we have to assemble them using different tools in the assembly workbench. The parts are arranged using different constrain such as Infer center/Axis constrain, touch constrain, align constrain.

Final output of assembly butterfly valve is :

THEN APPLY GD&T :

To apply GD&T we need to know about the operation of the assembly and the crucial part in the assembly. The main part is the main body of the butterfly valve.

The flow direction is show the image

The butterfly valve is attached to the pipe at one end like this end in the figure. And apply GD&T

We also have to consider the opposite side holes so we need to given a sub datum D to the third hole and given tolerance with to B,C and D datums.

The position tolerance is given to the holes on the other side of the part.

There are other parts like to give tolerance example the rod of the lever handle, there is no need because it is not in the function and the slight variation in dimension do not affect the operation of the butterfly valve. The variation of thickness on the marked region do not affect the operation and is of less important, the part only need to give size tolerance.
