Week 12:Project 2-Meshing of Rear Wheel Holder challenge

AIM- To Mesh the given Rear Wheel Holder with the given criteria.

About Rear wheel holder:

The task of the wheel carrier is to support a car’s wheel bearing and also the wheel with it. Modern-day wheel carriers are made of aluminium or steel. The materials used for the wheel carriers must satisfy strict requirements. As such, the materials are required to be especially solid and rigid. What’s more, they must also be resistant to corrosion.

GIVEN CAD GEOMETRY:

PROCEDURE

  • Perform a proper geometric clean up on the surfaces.
  • To extract a proper mid surface from the parent components.
  • Maintain a Proper mesh flow with a minimum number of tria's.
  • Mesh the component properly with clean up tools to get proper mesh flow.
  • Assigning thickness to the component.

Measuring Thickness of the component : Thickness was found to be 0.75 mm

After measuring thickness, taking the midsurface of the component.

Then meshing the component with required element quality criteria and checking for elemenet failure.

No elements were failure for quality. So making a property card with thickness of 0.75 and assigning it.

thickness can be viewed by 2D detailed element representation.

Learning outcome:

  • Performed a proper geometric clean up on the surfaces.
  • Extracted a proper mid surface from the parent components.
  • Meshed the component.
  • Thickness is assigned to the component.
