Challenge

Week 12:Project 2-Meshing of Rear Wheel Holder challenge

Objective:

  • The objective of this project is to extract a mid surface out of the given geometry and mesh with proper flow for the below geometry.

Procedure:

  1. The first step is to import the geometry into the Hypermesh GUI.
  2. Then identify very small features which can't be traced with the given criteria values. As these features are very small and difficult to incorporate in mesh form so need to be defeatured from the geometry.
  3. As there are no small surface fillets, the geometry is ready for extracting mid surface. The extracted mid surface is given below.
  4. Then change the criteria file according to the above statement. The criteria file setting is given below
  5. Then we start to mesh the geometry from the most complex part which is the centre part. Then gradually mesh the whole body. The generated mesh body is given below.
  6. As the meshing process was manual the flow was maintained quite consistently. The quality checkup result is given below.

Conclusion

  • The given geometry was very complex so it took a lot of time to generate the mesh.
  • In this mesh body, the tria concentration is more because of the complexities.
  • Overall the meshing process was good and got some more clarity about the complex geometries.
