Challenge

Week 12:Project-1-Meshing of Door Inner Panel Challenge

Objective:

  • The objective of this project is to mesh the above model with the given criteria by following all the necessary constraints.

Procedure:

  1. The first step is to import the geometry to the Hypermesh GUI,
  2. The next step is to defeature the small surface fillets and ensure proper topology cleanup.
  3. The next step is to extract a mid surface out of the geometry. The mid surface is given below
  4. Then clean the mid surface to get proper geometry and make the geometry mesh ready.
  5. Then started meshing the surface then the complete mesh is given below.
  6. Some components need 3D meshing. The 3D mesh bodies are given below.
  7. Then different property has been created to encapsulate all the thickness of the whole component. I've considered the average thickness and created below properties collectors.
  8. The considered material is plastic whose properties are given below
  9. Now let's check the mesh connectivity and the proper flow of the mesh body according to the criteria mentioned.
  10. The criteria file is given below
  11. After applying the property to the respective collector the detailed view of the mesh body is given below.
  12. The shaded view is given below

Conclusion:

  • In this project, I've learned the plastic meshing of the sheet model. The plastics are a bit difficult to mesh also have a complex geometry.
  • In the above model, I couldn't able to mesh the hollow part of the pin.
  • Meshing the side door was tricky for most of the part.
