Week 12- Final project

FINAL PROJECT

DOOR ARM REST

Class a surface recreation

Class a surface of door arm rest is not joining properly there are some open boundaries in ‘a surface so it is cleared before offsetting it.

Tooling axis

tooling axis is created using the point direction method .in the class A surface given surface the arm rest surface is not linear, the curved surface will not clear drafting in z axis direction clearing for drafting two tooling axis is created with the same point direction method and one with respect to z axis and the other one with respect to Y axis. main and side core tooling axis is created

Drafting analysis of  A surface

Draft analysis is done with respect to both main and side core tooling axis where minimum draft angle 3 is given for clearing class a surface with tooling axis direction.

Class B surface

Class c surface

Final trim surface

Closed body

Draft analysis of closed body with respect to main tooling axis

Draft analysis with respect to side ore axis

Lower substrate

Tooling axis

Tooling axis is created using point direction method the direction is taken as parallel to the y axis.

Draft analysis of A surface axis

B SURFACE

C SURFACE

FINAL TRIM

CLOSED BODY

Draf analysis of closed body

Map pocket

Tooling axis

Tooling axis is created parallel to the direction of y axis by creating a random point on the surface of map pocket.

Draft analysis of class A surface

Class B surface

Class c surface

Final trim surface

Closed body

Draft analysis of closed body

Report

Tooling axis is created in direction parallel to the y component .class b surface is offsets to ‘2.5’mm in the direction of tooling axis. the class b surface is tested properly and extrapolated at the sides after that the c surface is created with three degrees draft angle with respect to tooling axis and 90 degrees with respect to reference surface after that A and C surface are joined together and trimmed with b surface created and converts it into closed body.

BOTTLE HOLDER

TOOLING AXIS

Tooling axis is created selecting a line on the surface of the bottle holder and created a line normal to the surface of the bottle holder

Draft analysis of a surface

B surface

C surface

Final trim

Closed body

Draft analysis of closed body

Report

Tooling axis is created in direction perpendicular to surface of bottle holder. class b surface is offsets to ‘2.5’mm in the direction of tooling axis. the class b surface is tested properly and extrapolated at the sides after that the c surface is created with three degrees draft angle with respect to tooling axis and 90 degrees with respect to reference surface after that A and C surface are joined together and trimmed with b surface created and converts it into closed body.

ENGINEERING FEATURES

  1. FLANGES

Flange creation

Flanges are created using the master sections given in cat file. Use multiple extracts to obtain required guide curve and profile is taken from master section. Sweep command is used for creating the surface of flanges and flange body is created by thickening the surface created using sweep.

For armrest

For map pocket

For bottle holder

2. Heat stakes

Heat stakes are created from padding a sketch created from a point obtained from master section.

Procedures to create ribs on heat stakes

  • Create a sketch with Centre as Centre of heat stakes inner circle

  • Use extrude surface to create a surface and thicken surface command to create a solid body

  • Use union trim to connect it with heat stakes

Give draft with proper angle. Copy and paste the solid body to required number and use translation command to translate it to the right position

Dog house

We need to create a doghouse to attach push clips on lower substrates.

Procedure for doghouse creation

Create a point on the given location and a plane with respect to it and create a sketch with base sketch for doghouse.

  • Create a sketch profile from it and pad it gave drafting outside as 1.5 degrees with respect to main tooling axis and 0.5 degrees with respect to side coring axis.

  • Use shell command to create a thickness of 2.5mm inside and create hole top for creating fitting surface for push pin

  • Create locators and reduce thickness in bottom surface as per design specifications and give 0.5 degree drafting for every part created for doghouse inside part.
