Week 11 - Final project

Door Trims

Door trims consists for four parts

1) Arm rest

2) Map pocket

3) bottle holder

4) Low substate

Here we are provided with Class A surface for above four mentioned parts and with class A we also got Mastersection where can we find the thickness of all parts and sturcture of flanges and location of heat stakes etc.

Once we got the part file for all part all made into single assembly and made into product file, the four part are seperated and made as assemby

once part file is changes to product file now we need to work on Creation of Tooling axis for All four parts

Arm rest:

Tooling asix:

The class A of arm rest cannot clear draft analysis with single tooling axis so we need to create a lifter axis too.

The intersect with respective axis is made and bisecting line is made from two drafted line. So one of the tooling is made and lifter axis is made by creating a line which is 90 deg respective tooling axis. After all axis is created draft analysis is done for Class A with draft angle of 2.9 deg

Class A:

Class A ( Lifter axis) :

Closed part:

Once class A draft analysis is cleared Class B and Class c made from class A by simply offseting the class A for 2.5 mm and to join both class A and B , Class C is created and all are finally trimed to form a closed surface. Tools used while formaing closed surface are Extract, offset, Trim, join, smoot curve, extude, extrapolate, multiple section etc.

Once Closed surface is created it is made ainto part and draft analysis is done to the part

Arm rest part:

Arm rest part :

2) Map pocket:

Tooling axis:

For this part tooling axis is simply made with respective y asix and draft analysis is done for class A surface

which clears a draft angle of 2.9deg

Class A:

Closed part:

Once class A draft analysis is cleared Class B and Class c made from class A by simply offseting the class A for 2.5 mm and to join both class A and B , Class C is created and all are finally trimed to form a closed surface. Tools used while formaing closed surface are Extract, offset, Trim, join, smoot curve, extude, extrapolate, multiple section etc.

Once Closed surface is created it is made into part and draft analysis is done to the part

Map pocket part:

3) Bottle holder

Bottle holder part:

4) Low substate

This is the part which consists of all B side engineering fearutes like heat stakes, locators, ribs, Dog house which gonna gold push clips

Tooling axis:

For this part tooling axis is simply made with respective y asix and draft analysis is done for class A surface

which clears a draft angle of 2.9deg

Closed part:

Once class A draft analysis is cleared Class B and Class c made from class A by simply offseting the class A for 2.5 mm and to join both class A and B , Class C is created and all are finally trimed to form a closed surface. Tools used while formaing closed surface are Extract, offset, Trim, join, smoot curve, extude, extrapolate, multiple section etc.

Once Closed surface is created it is made into part and draft analysis is done to the part

Low substate part:

Heat stakes:

It is the B side engineering feature which is created over low substate. These heat stakes are fomred with some specific dimesions are - Diameter - 7mm, draft angle - 0.5 deg, inner dia - 5 mm, Height from bottom of heat stakes to flange should be 6-8 mm and distance from top of heat stakes and flange should be 12 mm. we have to make many heat stakes to be formed so once heat stake is created and rest all are formed using copy and paste special option then they are moved to respective position using translate option by point to point and coordinate options. The tooling axis for heat stakes is same as low substate and it clears draft of 0.49deg

Locater:

It is the B side engineering feature which is created over low substate. These locater are fomred with some specific dimesions are - thickness - 1mm, draft angle - 0.5 deg, fillet - 0.25 mm. we have to make many locaters to be formed so once locaters is created and rest all are formed using copy and paste special option then they are moved to respective position using translate option by point to point and coordinate options. The tooling axis for locaters is same as low substate and it clears draft of 0.49deg

Dog house:

It is the B side engineering feature which is created over low substate. These dog house are fomred with some specific dimesions that are given in drafting sheet. we have to make three dog house to be formed so once dog house is created and rest all are formed using copy and paste special option then they are moved to respective position using translate option by point to point and coordinate options. The tooling axis for dog house is same as low substate and it clears draft of 0.49deg

For dog house draft analysis cannot be cleared with only one tooling axis so lifter asix is created so that all portion clears draft analysis of draft value 0.49 deg

RIBS:

It is the B side engineering feature which is created over low substate. These ribs are fomred with some specific dimesions are - thickness - 1mm, draft angle - 0.5 deg, fillet - 0.25 mm. we have to make many ribs to be formed so once ribs is created and rest all are formed using copy and paste special option then they are moved to respective position using translate option by point to point and coordinate options. The tooling axis for ribs is same as low substate and it clears draft of 0.49deg

Flange and push pin:

Flanges are formed with using master section and some of the flanges are formed with based on part. The flanges are created based on the count of heat stakes and locaters. Tools used to form flanges are extrude, sketch, extrapolate, trim, sweep, etc. once closed flange surface is it is made into part and added to the respective parts of door trim. There green colour part i called as push pin which is used for attachment of low subsrtate and door panel it is given as part file it is just assembled over dog house in right position.
