Week 11 Car Crash simulation

Objective: To perform a parametric study using 3 different values of thickness for the car body

Procedure:

  • Drop the explicit dynamics
  • Insert the material as per the requirements in Engineering data
  • Import the geometry from the library
  • Open the mechanical module
  • Assign the thickness to the car body
  • Tick the empty box in front of thickness for Parametric Results
  • Assign the material to the Car body
  • Delete all the contacts
  • Provide fixed support to the car and
  • Provide the displacement to the wall
  • Provide the symmetry region for Wall and the car body
  • Generate the Mesh as per the requirement

Analysis Settings:

Equivalent Stress :

Total Deformation:

Result:

Conclusion:

  • Car body with lowest thick ness of 0.1 has the highest Total Deformation
  • Car body with lowest thick ness of 0.1 has the highest Equivalent Stress
