Week 1 Stress Concentration on a Plate with hole
Tools Used: Ansys Workbench 2022 R2
Part Type : Plate with 1 Hole and 3 Holes.
Boundary Conditions :
1. Material : Structural Steel
2. Tensile Load: 500N on Z axis pulling on the side 120*30
Case 1: Plate with one 60mm Hole
1. A new static structure was created
2. Structural Steel was used as an Engineering Data
3. Edit Geometry in Space claim and design a plate with Dimensions 300*120*30 with a Hole of 60mm at the center.
4. Apply the Boundary Conditions: Fix one side of 120*30 and apply the 500N of Tensile load on the opposite 120*30 side. This results in stretching of the material (Plate).
5. Mesh : Mesh of 5mm has been applied
6. Result: Equivalent Stress and Total Deformation has been applied.

Case 2 : Plate with one 60mm Hole and two 30mm Holes 90mm from Center
1. A new static structure was created
2. Structural Steel was used as an Engineering Data
3. Edit Geometry in Space claim and design a plate with Dimensions 300*120*30 with a Hole of 60mm at the center and two holes 90mm away from the center.

Results: Please see the below table for comparison
| S. No | Description | Plate with 1 Hole | Plate with 3 Holes |
| 1 | Max. Von Mises Stres(MPa) | 0.6079 | 0.5785 |
| 2 | Max Deformation(mm) | 0.0002749 | 0.0002973 |
Problem 2:
From analysis point of view Plate with 1 Hole must be chosen as it has higher stress and less deformation. It is simple to be analyzed.
Problem 3:
From the manufacturing point of view Plate with 3 Holes must be chosen, it has lower stress. While manufacturing many things are taken into account such as Weight, Costing etc. The plate with 3 holes will be cost efficient.
