Week 11 Car Crash simulation

Car Crash simulation

Objective:

To perform three different values of thickness for the car body and to analyze total deformation and equal stress on the model.

Procedure:

first we need to import the model in mechanical module and also to assign material for the model.

For the car body we need to assign a thickness of 0.3mm and also use stainless steel as a material. symmetric reaches are provided for the two faces for the two components.

for meshing we need to use triangles with sizing of 75mm for the car body and hex elements for the wall.

For boundary condition we need to provide a fixed support for particular faces of the car.

we also need to give a displacement of 500mm in the Z direction.

Results:

case 1 - car body thickness of 0.3

Total deformation

Equivalent stress

Equivalent strain

Parameter

Case 2- car body thickness of 0.4

Case 3- car body thickness of 0.5

Conclusion:

From the above table we come to the conclusion that the thickness of the material will increase when there will be less deformation.
