Week 11- Assembly Workbench

Modelling and Assembly of Quick return mechanism and CV joint :

Quick return mechanism:

This has 5 indiviual components:

Body-1:

Using pad command it is converted into a solid object as shown:

Body-2:

Using multi pad command it is converted to solid as shown:

Reference axes are placed at the following locations:

Body-3:

Reference axis is marked at centre of edge of one of the faces.

Body-4:

Assembling all bodies in assembly workbench:

To bring all bodies in a single workbench we use existing component command and select the required one from files.

Publish XY, YZ, ZX planes, reference points from each part. We use constraint toolbar to assemble all components.

First we fix Body-5 to a location:

Surface contact (Body-1, Body-4):

Coincidence (Body-1, Body-5):

Line contact (Body-1, Body-3):

Offset constraint (Body-2, Body-3):

Coincidence constraint (Body-2, Body-3):

 Surface contact (Body-1, Body-2):

Surface contact (Body-2, Body-4):

Final assembly:

2D Drawings are attached in the file.

CV Joint:

A CV joint has 3 main parts:

Assembly:

This assembly requires 2 quantities of Body-1, Body-3 each and one Body-2.

Insert all of them in assembly workbench. These bodies are assembled using constraints below.

A new part is inserted.

Fix constraint (New part):

Coincidence (Body-2, New part):

Coincidence (Body-1, Body-2):

Coincidence (Body-1, Body-2):

Offset(New part, Body-1):
