Week 11- Assembly Workbench

AIM:

To create the assemblies of the given component from the two dimensional representations.

OBJECTIVE:

From the assembly workbench, considering the constraints of the component and arrest the movements with respect to the motion of the assembly, here quick return mechanism and cv joint.

SOFTWARE USED:

Catia V5.

QUICK RETURN MECHANISM:

The quick return mechanism with the components separately represented in the 2D drawing is first created sketch constrained with it and then developed in to part component.

Slotted lever:

The sketch and giving all the constraints is shown below.

Then the same sketch is padded along the Z direction for the given dimension.

Then the sketch for the slot base is created, constrained and made into a part body.

Slider crank:

Arm:

Cylinderical crank:

Then these parts once developed are imported into the assembly workbench.

Initially, a skeleton and standard reference point and planes are created and then they are fixed at that point.

And then the slotted lever reference point is coincided with the above created reference point.

Then the cylindrical crank is coincided along its circular axis onto the circular section axis of the slotted lever.

Then along the same axis the arm of the mechanism is coinceded. To restrict the movement along its axis reference points either planes of the two components are also coincided.

Same is carried out for the rectangular crank too.

Then the slot base is coincided.

CV JOINT:

The same above procedures are carried out for the CV joint.

BODY 1:

BODY 2:

BODY 3:

For the body 3, three referential planes are created and then the separate sketches are created on these planes, padded and then joined together.
