Challenge

Week 10 - Challenge 3 - Door Trim Lower with Engineering Features

  • Door Trim with Engineering Features

AIM : To Create the Heat Stakes and the locators for the given Door Trim Lower Plastic Component

  • Tooling axis
    1. Ensure the class A surface is properly joined
    2. Analyse which direction is suitable for tooling axis
    3. Extract the surface, create the point & intersect with class A surface
    4. creating the line with point-point reference on bothsides
    5. Finally created the biscecting line with help of line 1 & line 2 & point to get the final tooling axis
  • Class B Surface
  1. Offset the class A surface in 2.5mm in proper direction
  2. Once offset is done some patches are missing
  3. Then missing patches are obtained with the help of Multiple extract, Join, Boundary, Extrapolate, Trim, edge Fillet commands
  • Class C Surface
  1. Create seperate boundaries from one vertex to another vertex in the class A surface
  2. In sweep command with draft direction 3 degree was given to the boundaries with the help of tooling axis
  3. In sweep command with reference surface 90degree was given to the boundaries
  4. Then extrapolated the edges & trim it
  5. Join the Class A & C surface together
  6. Finally closed suface is obtained with the trim command
  • Sketch For Locators

  • Sketch For Heat Stakes

  • Design For Locators
  1. To create a scketch on the body
  2. After that Pad it & Drafted it
  3. Once it is completed give the chamfer and edge fillet
  4. Then another locator was created with the help of an Translate feature
  5. Ensure the helight of the locators are same
  • Design For Heat Stakes
  1. To create a scketch on the body
  2. After that Pad it & Drafted it
  3. Once it is completed give the edge fillet
  4. Then create supporting ribs for the heat stakes
  5. Then another heat stakes was created with the help of an Translate feature
  • Draft analysis on Class A surface
    1. Ensure the view mode in material
    2. Use the compass to define the new current draft direction & place it on the Tooling axis & lock it
    3. Click the Class a surface it shows the Green colour area it satisfies
  • Draft analysis on Final component
    1. Ensure the view mode in material
    2. Use the compass to define the new current draft direction & place it on the Tooling axis & lock it
    3. Click the final componet it satisfied with the proper draft angle. If it not satisfied use the Analysis under running point tool & correct the values of an draft angle
  • Tree Structure

  • Closed Surface feature
