Challenge

Week 10 - Challenge 3 - Door Trim Lower with Engineering Features

AIM

To Create the Heat Stakes and the locators considering the design rules.

GENERAL RULES

  • Surface check
  • Tooling Axis
  • Draft Analysis
  • B Surface
  • C Surface
  • Final Output
  • Create Engineering Features

ENGINEERING FEATURES

  • Screw Boss
  • Heat Stakes

ATTACHMENT FEATURES

  • Locators

RIBS

Ribs provides a economical stiffness and strength in molded parts  without increasing overall wall thickness

LOCATORS

A Working Part is  free in space can move in an infinite number of directions. For analysis, this motion can be broken down into 12 directional movements or "degrees of freedom". All 12 degrees of freedom must be restricted to ensure proper referencing of a work-piece. It is also known as      3-2-1 Principle

HEAT STAKES

Heat Stakes is the process to attach two separate components together by melting Plastic Material into a desired shape that will holds Secondary components.

Advantages

  • Multiple fastening points
  • Reduced cost of machinery
  • Simplification of machinery

WORKING PROCEDURE

  • To Create Tooling Direction for given A Surface
  • To create a B surface for using A surface
  • A Surface to be offset in 2.5mm
  • Some missing fillets need to be solve
  • Extract the offset surface and extrapolate the extract surface
  • Trim the extrapolate suirfaces
  • B Surface to be created
  • To create C surface for using A surface
  • Create a Boundary
  • After that using sweep for Draft as TOOLING DIRECTION
  • Using SWEEP,EXTRAPOLATE,TRIM,SPLIT
  • C Surface to be created
  • Combine A Surface & C Surface by using JOIN
  • Final output to be Trim the B surface & JOIN A&C
  • Part body using Close surface for Final Trim
  • To Create Enginerering Features
  • Heat Stakes and Locators and Dog house

LOCATORS WORKING PROCEDURE

  • To Create 4 way Locators
  • Extract the surface and Create Point
  • Create Plane and Open Positioned sketch
  • Open Part body and create a pad to use Thickenss 1mm
  • After that Draft with 0.5 degree
  • Use Edge fillet 0.3mm
  • Chamber 3mm
  • After Creating the Locators Copy these and Paste special in separate body and Translate
  • Already Reference Point Available in that INPUTS
  • So, Translate the body POINT to POINT
  • Open Main part body and Use UNION TRIM with remove unwanted part.

HEAT STAKES

  • To Create a Point
  • Create Plane and Open Positioned sketch
  • Open Part body and create a pad
  • After that Draft with 0.5 degree
  • Use Edge fillet 0.3mm
  • Chamber 3mm
  • After Creating the Heat Stakes Copy these and Paste special in separate body and Translate
  • Already Reference Point Available in that INPUTS
  • So, Translate the body POINT to POINT
  • Open Main part body and Use UNION TRIM with remove unwanted part.

RIBS

  •   Create a Positioned sketch by using the alraedy Heat stakes Sketch or Datum plane with point
  • Open part body and pad with thickness 1mm neutral fibre
  • Draft angle 0.5 degree
  • Thickness - 0.4 mm into 2.5mm
  • Height - 5mm into Thickness
  • After Creating The Ribs
  • Open the new body name it as HEAT STAJES AND RIBS ASSEMBLY and REMOVE heat stakes  in the ribs with Single part body after that Translate that body.

COUNTER PART CLEARANCE

  • 4 way Locator 0.1 mm clearance
  • Heat Stakes 0.5mm clearance

DOG HOUSE

  • Extrace the surface
  • Create a point and Datum plane
  • Create a Sketch using positioned sketch
  • Open part body and pad the sketch and apply thickess 2.5mm
  • Multiple Extract the ouside surface and Offset the surface 1mm inner side
  • Create  Line using Base datum plane and extrapolate and offset 3 to 6mm
  • Trim the Multiple extract offset and Extrapolate offset
  • Open Part body and Split the Trimmed surface
  • Draft to be used the body 0.5degree
  • And Edge fillet inside 1 mm
  • outside 3mm edge fillet use
  • Finally Union Trim or ADD Used in main Body ( BOOLEAN OPERATION USED)
