Week 10 - Challenge 3 - Door Trim Lower with Engineering Features

DRAFT ANALYSIS:

Using the tooling axis I have completed the final solid part's draft analysis for the Class A Surface. I've set the colour blue for angles smaller than zero, red for angles between 0 and 3, and green for angles larger than three.

TOOLING AXIS :

I have made the tooling axis in the Y direction. We might be able to easily eject the part from this direction.

CREATION OF CLASS B SURFACE

Offset the class a surface 2.5mm directly. After offsetting, some patches will form. Eliminate the fileted portions for closing the patches. Define the limit and extrapolate to the required length. Now trim the surfaces to the required surface. Then fillet the surfaces to the required radius.

Missing surfaces

CREATION OF CLASS C SURFACE

Drew boundaries at the class A surface's required edges. Created sweep on the boundaries and given an angle of 3 degrees to parallel to the tooling axis and given 90 degrees to perpendicular to the tooling axis.Extrapolated edges of sweep and trimmed it. Finally using joined trimmed part and class A surface.

JOINED CLASS C SURFACE AND CLASS A SURFACE

Trimmed the class-B surface with the C surfaces together.

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS FOR HEAT STAKES

The thickness of the boss is typically 40%* of the nominal wall at the base, with a draft of 0.5 degrees on the walls. Level to Distance across Proportion - 3:1. Radii - 0.25mm most extreme radii. Duplicate the made item and translated it to focuses that need to place. Created another body. Using the "add" command the HEAT STAKES are added to the new body. And using the "trim" command trimmed the body with a closed surface.

CREATE 4 WAY LOCATORS

Locators are the supporting member. The plastic design calls for at least two locators.
There are 2-way and 4-way locators available. Four-way locators arrest the four degrees of freedom by joining four ribs together. The locator's height should be higher than the heat stakes. Created the locators as per the dimensions. And translated to desired positions. Using the "Trim" command trim with the closed body.
