Week 10 Bullet penetrating a Bucket Challenge
Title: Bullet Penetrating into a Bucket
Objective:
We have to simulate a bullet penetrating into a bucket. You will need to use 3 different non linear materials for the bucket and analyse their behaviour for the same velocity of bullet. Apply the conditions for bullet as mentioned in the video itself. Attach an animation to show the behaviour in the three cases.
Analysis:
1. Materials used for Bucket in three cases are Explicit materials.
Case 1: Al 1100-O

Case2: Steel 1006

Case3: Nickle

2.Material used for Bullet is Tantalum

3.In this challange we are interested on the behaviour of bucket which is observed with three different non linear explicit materials. so we are making bullet as rigid.
4. Contacts are deleted if any present.
5.Meshing: Edge sizing is done where bullet touches bucket with 5mm mesh size and all other areas with default mesh size.

6.Analysis settings:
7. Fixed support is given to bucket as it should not move.

8. Velocity of 139000mm/s is given to bullet in all the 3 cases towards bucket.

9. The simulation is then carried out and the results for three cases are summerised below:
Results:
- Case1: Al 1100-O

- Case2: Steel 1006

Case3: Nickle

Results are tabulated below as per simulation:
| Case | Material | Max.Equivalent stress(Mpa) | Max total deformation(mm) |
| 1 | Al 1100-O | 99.138 | 1042.5 |
| 2 | Steel 1006 | 447.46 | 695 |
| 3 | Nickel | 386.05 | 1390 |
Conclusions:
1.Max equivalent stress is minimum for Al 1100-O ( 99.138 Mpa ) and Maximum for steel 1006 ( 447.46 Mpa ).
2.Max total deformation is high for Nickle i.e 1390mm and less for Steel 1006 i.e 695mm.
3. Nickle has distorded the most if we compare with others.
