Week 10 Bullet penetrating a Bucket Challenge
Objective: To simulate a bucket and bullet challenge using 3 different materials for the bucket and compare the deformation and stress developed in each of the cases.
Materials:
- Magnesium NL Alloy:

- Stainless Steel NL Alloy:

- Copper NL Alloy:

Geometry:

Connections:
As it is an explicit dynamics simulation no contact set is provided.
A body interface of frictionless type is defined.
Mesh:
A body sizing is provided to the bucket and bullet.

| Nodes | Elements | |
| Mesh | 3644 | 10892 |
Analysis Setting:

1. Fixed Support:
A fixed support is provided to the bottom face of the bucket.

2. Velocity:
A velocity of 139m/s is given to the bullet in the negative x-direction.

Results:
1. Total Deformation:
a.Magnesium NL Alloy:

b.Stainless Steel NL Alloy:

c.Copper NL Alloy:

2. Equivalent Stress:
a.Magnesium NL Alloy:

b.Stainless Steel NL Alloy:

c.Copper NL Alloy:

| Magnesium NL Alloy | Stainless Steel NL Alloy | Copper NL Alloy | |
| Total Deformation(mm) | 1390 | 1390 | 1390 |
| Equivalent Stress(MPa) | 1419 | 1529.1 | 672.76 |
