Week 1 : Exploring the GUI of GT-POWER

1. Modules available under GT-Suite are,

AC and Waste heat recovery - modeling and optimizing AC and waste heat recovery system

Engine Performance- to model, calibrate and optimize both CI or SI, NA or Turbo IC engine performance, engine and engine periferal parts dimentions and all engine relevant parameters

Aftertreatment - modeling and optimizing catalyst and complete aftertreatment

Cooling Engine - modeling and optimizing emgine cooling circuit

Controls - design and optimize PID controler

Crank train - modeling and optimizing crank train

Gear Chain and Belt drives - modeling and optimizing drives

Lubrication - modeling and optimizing Lubrication oil circuit

Transmission - modeling and optimizing Transmission system

2. Locate following things

Time control flag

Time Step and Solution Control

Integrator/Solver type

3. From Intercooler tutorial note down settings of

Run Setup : Time control flag- 'Continues' (i.e. steady state), Maximum simulation duration is '0.5 sec', no minimum simulation duration, automatic shut off when steady state is 'on' i.e. simulation will stop even before 0.5 sec if it satisfy all covergence criterias, time step and solution control object is 'Explicit', Integrater/Solver type is 'Explicit Runge Kutta method'.

Advance Setup : fixed time step is ignored i.e. not mentioned, gravitational accelaration is ignored, no restart file stored, data will be stored at each case end and at end of simulation, restart files will stored if case ends normally

Plot Setup : Though there are no plots assigned yet max plot point is set to 1500 i.e. plot will show 1500 results points, sampling type is time step, sampling interval is 1 i.e. result will be recorde at every interval and measurment location is 0.5 i.e at mid of part.

Output Setup : RLT calculation interval is 0.05 i.e. data will be saved after every 0.05 time interval, time step plot is activated

4. Problem

Average heat transfer at CAC is (0.0109+0.0259+8.73+0.0168+0.00676=) 8.79036 kw

Pressure drop across CAC is (2.16-2.00=) 0.16 bar
