Week 1: Channel flow simulation using CONVERGE CFD

Aim: To perform channel flow simulation using Converge.

Case performed:

dx=dy=dz=2e-4m

Geometry used for simulation

Setup:

Application: Time-Based

Materials used:

Species-Air

Simulation Parameter:

Run Parameter: Steady-state solver

Start time: 0.0

End time: 15000 cyc

Initial time step/min time step: 1e-9

Max time step: 1s

Boundary Conditions:

Inlet- Pressure - 100001 Pa, 300K

Outlet- Pressure- 100000Pa, 300k

Top-bottom wall- stationary, 300k

Front and back: Two_D

Initial Conditions/Regions:

Pressure: 101325Pa, 300K

Species- Air

Grid control:

Base grid: dx=dy=dx=2e-4m

Mesh

The plots below show the Velocity, mass flow and pressure for the solution which has ran close to over 6000 cycles.

Conclustion:

-It can be learned through pressure contours that flow is initiated through pressure difference.

-The simulation ran for close to 6000 cycles and velocity, mass flow and pressure were shown.
