Week 1: Channel flow simulation using CONVERGE CFD

introduction

flow in conduits or channels are interested in science, engineering, and everyday life

channel flow occurs when the upstream water level of outflow is higher than the water level downstream. channel flow may be shooting or streaming.

1. open channel flow: in this type of flow only for liquids, here flow has one free surface, other surface exposed to the atmosphere

2. closed conduit flow: pipe flow, the flow of air through an air duct, closed rectangular channel.

meshing

  • dx = 2e-4m, dy = 2e-4m, dz = 2e-4m

dx = 1.0e-4m, dy = 1.0e-4m, dz = 1.0e-4m

conclusion

As we decrease the mesh size,the results become more accurate and it produces smooth plot but the computation time increases drastically.
