Vehicle Ride
1)wheel rate is the force per unit displacement relative to the chassis, whereas the spring rate is the force per unit displacement of the suspension alone.
2)Ride rate is the vertical displacement of tire contact patch relative to the chassis, whereas the wheel center rate is displacement of the wheel center relative to the chassis.
3)
- Same damping cannot be used for both low and high frequency, for low frequency high damping is required and for high frequency low damping is required.
- Same damping cannot be used for both compression and rebound, rebound requires more damping than the compression
4)Rear ride frequency needs to be higher than the front to avoid pitching effect, because the rear wheel hit the bump and there will be some delay from the front wheel when front wheel hit the bump.
5)
- natural frequency is inversely proportional to the mass of the object.lower sprung mass provides higher frequency and it provide better vibration isolation.
- lowerdamping provide better vibrational isolation because high natural frequency is achieved at low damping.
6)Depending on the load air pressure in the suspension can change so it avoids pitching effect
