Challenge

Usage of Navigation tool , Timeliner and Clash Detection test using Naviswork

1.] Use the Architecture/ Structure Project file developed by you in Week 6 to 8. Export the Revit architecture and structure model to Navisworks Cache file following the export settings discussed in class

Ans.

AIM : To export the Revit architecture and structure model to Navisworks Cache file following the export settings.

INTRODUCTION :

- Navisworks Cache Files are created mostly for ease of use and speed.

- When you open a model created in other programs,it creates a cache file that is much smaller in size and you won’t even notice it.

- The next time that you open that same model,it will instantly load, rather than gathering the information for it.

- This is because it is now reading the information from the cache file rather than the model itself (so long as the original file isn’t newer than the cache file, in which case it will re-cache and replace the old one).

- It does this for each file Navisworks opens or merges natively.

PROCEDURE :

Step 1 : First we have to open the revit software and open the architectural model..

Step 2 : Next we click on the file option and export the model as NWC file.

Step 3 : Next the export scene as tab will appear, next the give the nwc file name.

Step 4 : Next we have to open the revit software and open the structural model..

Step 5 : Next we click on the file option and export the model as NWC file.

Step 6 : Next the export scene as tab will appear, next the give the nwc file name.

Step 7 : Next the architectural model and structural model are opened in the navisworks.0

RESULT :Revit architecture and structure model are successfully exported to the navisworks cache file.

2.] Use Navigate Tool to walk around the model and walk through the rooms created and record your moving as animation in your Navisworks file

Ans.

AIM : Using the Navigate Tool,to walk around the model and walk through the rooms created and record moving as animation in your Navisworks file.

INTRODUCTION :

With the Walk tool, you can navigate through a model as if you were walking through it.

Once you start the Walk tool, the Center Circle icon is displayed near the base of the view and the cursor changes to display a series of arrows.

To walk through the model, you drag in the direction in which you want to move in.

PROCEDURE :

Step 1 : After opening the architectural model in the navisworks, then click on the walk tool.

Step 2 : Next we use the record option in the viewport toolbar to record the moving as animation in each and every room.

Step 3 : Next we walk through the living room.

Step 4 : Next we walk through the bed room.

Step 5 : Next we walk through the Kitchen room.

RESULT :

- Used navigation tool to walk around the model.

- To walk through the rooms created.

- To record moving as animation in Navisworks file.

3.] Use Navigate tool to use Realism feature to walk through the model and record your moving as animation in Navisworks file

Ans.

AIM : Use Navigate tool to use Realism feature to walk through the model and record moving as animation in Navisworks file.

INTRODUCTION :

- This function allows you to navigate scene from a third person perspective.

- When third person is activated, you will be able to see an avatar which is a representation of yourself within the 3D model.Whilst navigating you will be controlling the avatar's interaction with the current scene.

- Using third person in connection with collision and gravity makes this a very powerful function, allowing you to visualize exactly how a person would interact with the intended design.

- You can customize settings, such as avatar selection, dimension and positioning for the current viewpoint or as a global option.

PROCEDURE :

Step 1 : First we open the realism option and select the third person.

Step 2 : Next we use the record option in the viewport toolbar to record the moving as animation in each and every room.

Step 3 : First we walk through the living room.

Step 4 : Next we walk through the bed room.

Step 5 : Next we walk through the kitchen room.

Step 6 : Next we walk through the stairs.

RESULT :

- Used realism tool to walk around the model.

- To walk through the rooms created.

- To record moving as animation in Navisworks file.

4.] Embed both architecture and structure *.nwc file to your Navisworks file. Create a clash detection test between the two models
a. Run the Clash Detection Test
b. Study the clashes between the two models
c. List which of the clashes could be approved
d. List which of the clashes could be neglected ( will be taken care later)
e. List which of the clashes can be resolved
f. Save the results after color coding the clashes to the Navisworks file
g. In case of resolution annotate the clash and save the view to defined views in Navisworks

Ans.

AIM : To Create a clash detection test between the two models.

INTRODUCTION :

- The Clash Detective tool enables you to search through your total project model, identifying cross-discipline interferences (clashes) earlier in the design process.

- This feature is available for Autodesk Navisworks Manage users only.

PROCEDURE :

Step 1 : Once load and open the structure and architecture files,we can start the clash test.

Step 2 : Then Go to home menu and select clash detective,Clash detective dialog box appears.

Step 3 : Click on add test option.

Step 4 : Then select the files which we want to test then click on run test.

Step 5 : Clashes can be approved as part of the construction, these clashes will not appear anymore.it turns into green colour once we click approve.

Step 6 : The clashes which will not cause any disturbance to the project can be neglected.

Step 7 : Clashes can be resolved which can change model boundary conditions, these clashes can be excluded from the detective test.

Step 8 : Once we change all the clashes we can save the Navisworks file. Now,this file is ready and can be sent for review.

Step 9 : we can annotate and save the place where we can clash are visible and is viewed personally and will be rectified by the design engineer.

RESULT : Created a clash detection test between the two models successfully.

5.] Using the Timeliner feature in Navisworks prepare a schedule for the project developed in week 6 to 8 by adding reasonable assumptions for task start date and end date and simulate the task completion as a visual simulation. Record it and save the timeline simulation to Navisworks file

Ans.

AIM : To use the Timeliner feature in Navisworks to prepare a schedule for the project developed in week 6 to 8.

INTRODUCTION :

- The TimeLinertool adds schedule simulation to Autodesk Navisworks.

- TimeLinerimports schedules from a variety of sources.

- You can then connect tasks in the schedule with objects in the model to create a simulation.

- This allows you to see the effects of the schedule on the model, and compare planned dates against actual dates.

- Costs can also be assigned to tasks to track the cost of a project throughout its schedule.

- TimeLineralso allows the export of images and animations based on the results of the simulation.

- TimeLinerwill automatically update the simulation if the model or schedule changes.

PROCEDURE :

Step 1 : Open the Navisworks file and click on timeliner tool from the home menu,Now timeliner dialog box appears.

Step 2 : Select the components by clicking on the Selection tree and add them to the timeliner.

Step 3 : Then click on add task to add the first work in the project,we can add the actual and planned start and end dates,we can select the task type for construction.

Step 4 : Once we fill all the details in the timeliner dialog box we can click simulate option.

Step 5 : The simulation begins and we can see the construction from the starting date to ending date in the form of video.

RESULT : Timeliner feature is used successfully in Navisworks to prepare a schedule for the project developed in week 6 to 8.
