Challenge

Usage of Collaborate tool in REVIT

  1. Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project

AIM: To open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project-

Tools Used: Architectural Template, Manage tab, Grids.

Procedure:

Step1: Open a new Project using an architectural template.

Step2: Open the manage tab and go to the project location tab and click on coordinates.

Step3: create horizontal and vertical grids and rename them accordingly.

Step4: Their select specify coordinates next click on any grid then it shows another dialogue box then we have to give coordinates accordingly to fix origin ad base point.

Give like this in every direction. Finally, save the project.

RESULT: Using the mange tab project base and shared coordinates had been set up in the project.

2. Open another new file but with a structural template. Using the manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model

ANS:

AIM: To open another new file but with a structural template. Using the manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model

Tools Used: Structural template, manage tab, grids.

Procedure:

Step1: Create a new file using a structural template.

RESULT: Using the mange tab project base and shared coordinates had been set up in the project in the structural template.

3. Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model (enabling simultaneous working on the model)

AIM: To make the architectural model a central model using the tools under the Collaborate tab.

Tools Used: Previous architecture file, collaboration tab.

Procedure:

Step1: Open the previous architecture File.

Step2: Go to collaborate tab and click on collaborate.

Step3: Now click on with in-network and click on ok.

RESULT: Finally, this architecture file become a centralized file for further workflow.

4. Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2

AIM: To create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern.

Tools Used: Grids, previous file, Architecture tab.

Procedure:

Step1: Open the previous file.

Step2: Open the architecture tab and select grids and create the grids accordingly.

Step3: After creation rename the horizontal grids with numbers and vertical grids with alphabets.

RESULT: Finally, grids are created in a Longitudinal and Transverse pattern and look like this.

5. Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.

AIM: To synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.

Tools Used: Manage tab, Synchronize tool

Procedure:

Step1: Open the previous file and go to collaborate tab and click on synchronize with the central tool.

Step2: Select synchronize and modify settings option to synchronize with the central model.

Step3: Then a dialogue box will open click on ok.

RESULT: Finally, synchronized the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.

6. Open the structural model and use the collaboration tools to save the model as a central file.

AIM: To make the Structural model a central model using the tools under the Collaborate tab.

Tools Used: Previous Structural file, collaboration tab.

Procedure:

Step1: open the previous Structural File.

Step2: Go to collaborate tab and click on collaborate.

Step3: Now click on with in-network and click on ok.

Step4: Now save the file and a dialogue box will open then click on Yes.

RESULT: Finally, the structural file is saved as a central file.

7. Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model

AIM: To copy the grids from architectural file to structural file using copy and monitor tool.

Tools Used: Insert tab, collaborate tab, copy and monitor.

Procedure:

Step1: Open structural model and click on link Revit in insert tab.

Step2: then import or link rvt dialogue box will open then select the architectural file which is to be linked and click on open.

'

Step3: Now click on the copy monitor tool in collaborate tab and select the select link option.

Step4: Now click on copy and multiple to copy grids select all the grids and click on finish

Step5: Then finally like this will appear on the screen. So the grids are copied successfully.

RESULT: Hence copied the grids from architectural file to structural file using copy and monitor tool.

  • Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural models. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.

AIM: To create another new file with a construction template & save the new file as a central model which includes both architectural and structural model.

Tools Used: Construction template, manage tab, collaborate tab.

Procedure:

Step1: Open a new file using a construction template.

Step2: Save the file with the appropriate file name. And click on collaborate in collaborate tab.

Step3: Now click on with in-network and click on ok.

Step4: Now save the file and a dialogue box will open then click on Yes.

Step5: Open the previous file and go to collaborate tab and click on synchronize with the central tool.

Step6: Select synchronize and modify settings option to synchronize with the central model.

Step7: Then a dialogue box will open click on ok.

Step8: Click on the Manage link in the manage tab. Then a dialogue box will appear like billow and click on add to add architectural and structural files.

Step9: After adding the files the drawing area will appear like this.

RESULT: Hence, created another new file with a construction template & save the file as a central model which includes both architectural and structural model.

9. Are the grids from structural and architectural models matching in the construction template created? If yes, the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point) to link the models in an appropriate manner

ANS: No, both architectural and structural models are not matching each other. So we have to set them matched using the manage tab.

AIM: To match base coordinates properly.

Tools Used: Manage tab, Relocate project,

Procedure:

Step1: Open the previous construction template file. Now click on the manage tab to match both architecture and structural models.

Step2: Click on Acquire coordinates and select the links.

Step3: Click on the manage tab and click on relocate project and select grids intersection and match them accordingly.

Step4: Now the Grids are matching with each other links.

RESULT: Hence, both architectural and structural links are set to match with each other.

10. List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously

AIM: To list a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model

Result: Here is the flow chart for the project.
