Challenge

Usage of Collaborate tool in REVIT

1) Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project

AIM : Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project

PROCEDURE :

- open the revit software

- select new > select imperial architectural template

- in architecture tab > select grid

- make horizontal and vertical grid

go to manage tab > select coordinates > select specify coordinates at point

select vertical grid lines > type 0'0" for north/south

select the horizontal grid line > type 0'0" for east/west coordinates

RESULT :

we have Used the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project

2) Open another new file but with a structural template. Using the manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model

AIM :

Using structural template and Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project.

PROCEDURE :

- close the above file

- select new > select structural template

- in architecture tab > select grid

- make horizontal and vertical grid

go to manage tab > select coordinates > select specify coordinates at point

select vertical grid lines > type 0'0" for north/south

select the horizontal grid line > type 0'0" for east/west coordinates

RESULT :

we have Used the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project

3) Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model (enabling simultaneous working on the model)

AIM : Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model

PROCEDURE :

- open the architectural file draw in challenge 1 in revit

- go to collaborate tab > select collaborate in cloud

- then two option will appear > select within your network > select ok

- next select save file

- the screen of central model save will apeear select yes

- central model created

RESULT :

we have Used the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model.

4) Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2

AIM : Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2

PROCEDURE :

- open the architectural template file

- go to architecture tab > in datum select grid lines

- make grids longitudnal and transverse pattern at 10' distance

RESULT :

we have Created the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2.

5) Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.

AIM : Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.

PROCEDURE :

- go to collaborate tab > select synchronize with central > then select synchronize and modify setting

- synchronize with central screen will appear > select compact file > ok

RESULT : we have Synchronized the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.

6) Open the structural model and use the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.

AIM : Open the structural model and use the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.

PROCEDURE :

- open the structural file previously we have drawn

- go to collaborate tab > select collaborate in cloud

- then two option will appear > select within your network > select ok

- next select save file

- the screen of central model save will apeear select yes

- central model created

RESULT :

we have Opened the structural model and used the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.

7) Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model

AIM :

Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model

PROCEDURE :

- we are in structural template file

- first we need to insert architectural tab into the structural

go to insert > select revit link > select architectural file

architectural template linked with structural but no copied for that

go to collaborate tab > select copy monitor > select copy link

- select the link architectural file

- select copy at top of left corner > select multiple > then select link object architectural file

- after that select finish which is below of final finish symbol

- go to copy monitor and select final finish.

RESULT :

we have Copied Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model

8) Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.

AIM :

Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.

PROCEDURE :

step-1

- open the construction template file

- go to collaborate tab > select collaborate in cloud

- then two option will appear > select within your network > select ok

- next select save file

- the screen of central model save will apeear select yes

- central model created

step-2

go to manage tab >select manage links > select both architectural and structural file > ok

RESULT :

we have Created another new file with a construction template. Saved the new file as a central model. This file has included both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Clicked manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Saved the file and close all the files.

9) Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point ) to link the models in an appropriate manner

AIM :

match the grids from structural and architectural model in the construction template created.

PROCEDURE :

- the grids from structural and architectural model are not matching in the construction template created. so we need to work on parameter.

step-1

- we need to open architectural file

- TYPE VG for visuality graphics > select site > tick the project base point and survey point > ok

step-2

- open structural file

- Type VG for visuality graphics > select site > tick the project base point and survey point > ok

- following traingle and circle symbol appear on model

- click on the circle symbol

- in project browser copy this number n/s and e/w to architectural file

- so that coordinates will match

step-3

- now go to insert > select revit links > insert architectural file into structural

- you can see coordinates will allign

- now insert this file into construction template

RESULT :

the grids from structural and architectural model matched in the construction template created. we have work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links

10) List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously

ans -

- construction model is a combination of both architectural model and structure model

number of people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously.

ans-

-revit allows multiple user to work simultaneously on one revit project. this can be achieved through worksharing. members from various disciplines can work together in a revit project like, architect, structural engineer, MEP engineer, HVAC engineer etc.
