Challenge

Usage of Collaborate tool in REVIT

1) Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project

Aim: To set project base point and project shared coordinates of the project.

Procedure: to create project shared co-ordinates.

  • Open Architectural tab.
  • open manage tab.
  • click on project coordinates and then specify shared points.
  • in north/south type 0'0".
  • in East/west type 0'0".

To create project base points:

  • select the architectural tab and select the grid and draw the grids.
  • rename the grids.
  • select the manage tab amd select specify co-ordinates at point and select one grid and specify as 0'0".
  • select the specify coordinate at a point and select another grid and specify 0'0".

Result:The project base point and shared coordinates are created.

2.) Open another new file but with a structural template. Using the manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model.

Aim: To create structural template with the same parameters as architectural project template.

procedure :

  • open new file.
  • click on structural template.

Go to Manage tab>project coordinates> shared coordinates.

  • In north/south type 0'0".
  • In East/west type 0'0"

specifying shared co-ordinates.

Results:The project parameters are created in structural plan.

3) Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model (enabling simultaneous working on the model)

Aim: To create architectural model a central model using collabrate tool.

Procedure:

  • open the architectural template in revit file.
  • select collebrate tab and select collebrate tool.
  • Two options will appear on screen
  • Select the option within the network and press ok.

Result: The Architectural mode is made central mode using collabrate method.

4) Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2.

Aim: To create grids in longitudnal and transverse pattern.

Procedure:

  • open the architectural template in revit file.
  • go to architecture tab>datum tab> grids.
  • draw grids in transverse and longitudnal directions according to the plan of the project.
  • rename the grids as per standards.

Results: The grids are drawn.

5) Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.

Aim:Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of architectural tab

procedure:

  • open revit file.
  • select manage tab and select sychorinize tab and click ok.

Result: The drawing will be synced with central file.

6) Open the structural model and use the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.

Aim:Open the structural model and use the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.

procedure:

  • Open structural template in revit file.
  • select the collabrate tab and collebrate.
  • select the collabrate mode with in the networksave it as saving for the first time it will make a central file.
  • Then synchronize with central and modify.

Results: The model is synchronized.

7)Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model.

Aim:nder the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor.

comman used :collebrate, copy monitor, selecy link/copy.

procedure:

  • open architectural tab and select colleborate tab select copy monitor and select link so my structural drawing is linked.
  • select the grids and levels an select multiple and select copy.
  • select the finish command.
  • open the structural template file and grid and column will be found in structural template.

Result:

8) Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.

Aim: To create new file with a construction template which includes both architectural and structural tab.

command used : Manage ,manage links.

Procedure:

  • open new file and save it as construction template.
  • select the collaborate tab and collaborate the file as central file.
  • select the manage tab and selet the manage link
  • select the both architectural and structural tab and press ok.
  • both the file will be opened in combined one.

9) Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point ) to link the models in an appropriate manner

Aim: inssert the grid in structural template to architectural template and check weather it i matching with each other.

Command used: Manage,manage links,acquire co-ordinates,position, relocate position.

Procedure:

  • open architectural tab and select manage tab.
  • in the manage tab select mange link and select the structural template drawing.
  • both the grids will appear in the arch template and it is not coinciding.

  • Select the arch grid and select acquire co-ordinates and select the arch template grids.
  • Select the position iconand click relocate position and select the intersection point of the grids.
  • The grids will be positioned.

10.) List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously

Procedure: For constructional model:

  • site access.
  • logistic and storage
  • quality control.
  • outstanding contract details.
  • outstanding design related changes.
  • health and safety.

For Architectural Mode:

  • schematic design
  • Design Development.
  • construction documents.
  • Bidding.
  • construction administration.

For Structural mode:

  • The Primary object of structural analysis and design is to produce a structure capable of resting all applied loads with out failure during its intended life.
  • if improperly designed elements of structure would fail causing serious consequences ssuch as large expenses.
  • once the architectural engineer sets the function and layout of the structure, the role of structural engineer begins which can be summarized in the fallowing steps to develop safe, functional and economic structures.
