Underbody Coating

UNDERBODY COATING

INTRODUCTION -

In real life road condition, underbody of car is most prone to corrosion. Underbody coating provides long term protection from corrosion and other adverse effect of harsh environment to car’s underbody.

Underbody coating is act as a protection layer for underbody Which keeps the underbody unaffected from the external environment and eventually improves car's life cycle.

Underbody coating not only provides resistance to corrosion but also protect metal from effects of humidity, moisture , wet conition and chipping caused by debris such like stones tossed by road.

Underbody coating provides effective protection against harmful environment but i get damage over the period that's why renewal of coating is to be done time to time.

Underbody coating is generally a 3rd step in AUTOMOTIVE COATING PROCESSES which comes after ED-Coating.

TYPES of UNDERCOATING -

  1. Rubberized Undercoating
Rubberized undercoating is straightforward to apply, and usually offers the excellent protective coating for your vehicle’s undercarriage. It cushions surfaces towards moisture, rust, dings, and dents. Rubberized undercoating is safe to use on quarter panels and wheel wells and dries with a soft rubbery finish.
  2. Asphalt-Based Undercoating
Asphalt-based undercoating gives a higher degree of protection suitable for large trucks, recreational vehicles, and heavy machinery. It’s formulated with some bits of rubberized material to aid in noise reduction. It offers more safety against chips and moisture but isn't always paintable and, therefore, only suitable for undercarriages..
  3. Polyurethane Undercoating
Polyurethane coating is simple to apply and works with the aid of sealing up cracks and seams. The compound displaces salt and moisture and protects the unoxidized metal from rust. It’s frequently offered in canisters that are ready to preload into an utility gun. It, but, calls for some surface prep work before application, like degreasing, and applying an etching primer to the bare metal.
  4. Wax or Paraffin-Based Undercoating
Wax or paraffin-based undercoating sprays are the most inexpensive and fastest options to be had. but, their results don’t last long, and you may must apply a sparkling coat after only a few months. similarly, the wax isn’t very adhesive on a metallic floor. Its important advantage is that it seeps fast into cracks and seams, and offers slight protective properties towards moisture.

PROs -

  1. Protection Against Corrosion And Rust
  2. Extend The Life Of Your Vehicle
  3. Cover Small Damages
  4. Easy to apply

CONs -
