UNDERBODY COATING :
The underbody of a car during its lifetime is exposed to different external elements which will affect the unprotected body when it comes in contact. This will lead to corrosion, wear, tear and damage. This will affect the performance and life of a car. The Underbody coating provides a solution to this problem.
It is a thick layer of protective coat given to the exposed underbody protecting it from any damages.
PURPOSES :
PROTECTION FROM EXTERNAL OBJECTS :
The underbody coating helps to avoid the damages done to the car body by objects that come into contact since the bottom of a car always has the chance to comes in contact with dust, small gravel dust, etc. It forms a kind of thick layer which is not easily damaged thereby protecting the car parts from damage.
INSULATION :
Extreme hot or cold weather will affect the exposed car body parts leading to rust formation. It provides a kind of insulation from hot or cold conditions which might affect the body when exposed.
REDUCTION OF SOUND :
The insulation provided by the coating also acts like a sound barrier for the interior of the car as it reduces noise.
The sound reduction properties help in improving the ride experience.
AIDS IN VALUE OF A CAR :
The coated body parts will have protection and the overall condition of the car will be good even after usage.
This will help in maintaining the value of the car and gives good resale value.
EASY MAINTAINANCE :
The coating prevents any build up of foreign particles thereby aiding in easy maintenance.
TYPES OF COATING DONE :
The coatings are done in the factory during production or can be done after the purchase.
There are different types of coatings as given below.
1. Bitumen based coating - This coating is good for off-road conditions. They provide good
protection against stone chip damage and corrosion.
2. Resin-based coating - PU coating and rubber based coating are known for its elastomeric
properties. It has sound deadening properties and provides long term chip damage protection.
3. Wax-based coating -This is the cheapest coating that can be done. It is an excellent anti-rust coating.
