UNDERBODY COATING

In Indian road conditions, a cars underbody is more prone to corrosion,Underbody coating provides long term protection from corrosion to car's underbody.It also protects parts like internal body panels,frame rails and other inner cavities tha are not physically accessible but are prone to corrosion.

A car underbody is exposed to the most wear and tear caused by muddy water,potholed roads,stones and other obstacles on the road.Because its not in plain sight,We often do not see the damage.

3M Underbody Treatments offer you a long term solution for issue related to corrosion and rust.First,the car underbody is washed and degrreased.Then the 3M protective coat is applied with body schutz gold gun (5 year warrenty) or under shield gun (2 year warrenty).The 3M body schutz/undershield,is a hard coating on the underbody of the car ,That is fawst drying,paintable,rubberized,non-toxic and chip resistant.It also minimizes sound from underneath the vehicle and insulates against the heat and cold.

The 3M underbody treatment protects the car underbody from rust ,increasing the longitivity of the car and thus enchansing its resale value.

MORDEN AUTOMOTIVE COATING PROCESS:

The morden automotive coating consists of five steps:

• Pre-Treatprocess:Removes and cleans excess metal and forms an approprate surface structure enablingbonding of a corrosion protection layer.
• the next step is electrode position of the anti corrosion or rust prevention layer.
• A sealer like polyvenyl cloride(PVC),elemination of water leaks and minimization of chipping and vibrational noise.
• A primer is then applied to promote adhision between the surface and the basecoat:it also imparts a smoother surface for subsequent layers and has antichipping properties.
• Finally,the top coats that include the base coat and clear coat are applied:they provide surface properties that are sought affter,including clor,apperance ,gloss ,smoothness and weather resistance.

PRE-TREATMENT:

The first step is preparing BIW for subsequent coating is the pre-treatment processThe pre-treatment consits of cleaning the body surface to remove remaining oils from the stamping process of degreasing ,conditioning and phosphating.The Degreaing solution is composed of alkaline salts and surficants and can include caustic soda,tri sodiam phospate and sodium carbonate.the surfactants are types of detergents for emulsifying oils and lubricants on the BIW.

ELECTRODE POSITION:

The metal underbbody and frames of automobiles are coated to prevent corrosion,wheares other areas like the roof are not rust proof.when not coated to prevent corrosion,the structural metals are primed before applyong additional coatings.The ED processes are modified as per the biw material property.This ED coating provides rust and corrosion protection

RUST-PROOF MATERIALS:SEALER/PVC

The 3rd steo is underbody coating(UBC) and seam sealing using PVC and urethane.The sealant is appalied around and inside the doors ,hood trunk and front dash and onto the exterior and interior of metal joints and outter area of the back wheel well.

PRIMER:

The fourth coating step is application of primer surface.It can be water borne,solvent borne or a powder.These primers are used to improve dhesion between the E-coat and topcoat,provide chipping protection,enhance paint appearence and also be environmentally copatable with emission regulations.

TOP-COAT:

The final step in the body coating process is to apply the topcoat and clear coat.The basecoat contains the primary coating pigment and the clear coat provides aprotective coating against environmental effects corrrosion and UV light retention and provides a smooth unblemished even finish.
