INTRODUCTION TO UNDERBODY COATING:

• What is the underbody coating?

In automobile industry Under body coating is the coating process where some adhesive material layer coated on some unseen places of the car- under body like, wheel base, body platform, chasis and other patrts to protect from road dust,stone scratches , muddy roads and corrosion.

according to indian infrastructure of roads and transportations , under body of the cars are most damages from corrosion and other dusty nature and environments conditions. it is mostly damages a parts of the cars like body panels, frame rails and chasis and other unseen parts like silencer and other parts.

their is mostly unseen parts of the cars which mostly damages through this reasons and because of we have not seen this conditions of the car, we dont know about the how under body coating is important for the car.

• why its need ?

to protect car from the moisture and corrosion and other natural conditions and also becasuse of the under body coating the car maintanance time is less then other cars. the reason is the cleanliness of the car and it requires to less time to check the condition of the cars and damages.

it is also affect the valuation of the car by financially and as well as it is increase the car resale value.

• Types of underbody coating: -

1. Rubberized underbody coating.

2. Wax based underbody coating.

3. Asphalt based automotive under coating.

4. Polyurethane based underbody coating.

1. Rubberized underbody coating:

This is the most common underbody coating for the car. It is used to protect a car underbody from the stone scratches, corrosion and it is reduced the road noise.

2. Wax based underbody coating:

Wax based undercoating is the cost effective and it is applied on whole unseen parts of the underbody. It is resisting a dampness of the car.

3. Asphalt based underbody coating:

This is most suitable for truck and heavy passenger vehicles. It contains rubber-based material to reduce the noise of the vehicles.

4. Polyurethane based underbody coating:

This coating is used on splits and fractures on the underbody of the car. It is also providing a good protection from the corrosion. It is also a good bond with metal.

• Advantages of the under body coating:

1. Protect from the corrosion and moisture of the nature.

2. Protect from the stone and chip scratches.

3. Reduce the noise and vibrations.

4. Protect some expensive parts of the underbody like a engine and silencer.

5. Easy to maintenance of the car because of the undercoating car has been clean and it reduce a maintenance time and charges.

6. Protect from the off-road dust and muddy road.

• Dis-Advantages of the under body coating:

1. high cost of the process because it is provide by the dealer.

2. it is not for the long life after some times the coating layer is remove because of the over temperature and other reasons.

3. sometimes it is avoid the srvice of the new car be cause it is done by third party or dealer not by the company.

4. it is reapply by every 3 to 5 year.
