Challenge

To Model a RC residential structure using TSD

Q1

AIM-To create a new file in a TSD and set up the setting for a steel building the covers for the member to be as per the following to be input

MEMBERS

IN CONTACT WITH GROUND

ABOVE GROUND

Column

50mm

40mm

Beam

30mm

25mm

Slab

30mm

25mm

Pilecap

75mm

Foundation

50mm

Introduction -tecla has option of predefining the material properties and its a specification and geometry same as etab but with more option
procedure-
click on a new for creating a new file from home toolbar
click on material in order to change the cover thickness go to settings >loading >structure defaults
select S.SL type for in a contact with ground and enter the values

Similarly selected T. O. F. for Above ground and enter the value

result -the new file of TSD is created the cover is changed as per given above

Q2

AIM- Model grids as per the attachment 2,2.1 and 2.2

Introduction- grid line indicate where a building element placed from a reference point on a plan .dimension and gridlines on plan aid to construction of structural element .the Centre line of this element are indicated best to accurately position them on site

 Procedure -
open new project and go to model toolbar
select the grid line option and draw starting grid 1
next select parallel line and draw grid 2,3,4 and 5
similarly repeat the same for horizontal grids A,B,C.

Result - the grid line are modeled as per given attachments

Q3

AIM-To study the given RC building plan and summarise understanding of the plant based on the studies to explain the location of column and beam

Introduction- prior step of any structural planning is to understanding the given architectural drawing and check whether the planning satisfy structural feature as a geometry ,symmetry in mass and stiffness ,redundancy after the analysis, provide the initially column ,beam location before foundation and other components
procedure-
given RC office building of size 19.2m*13.32m
the column placement should be done in a such a way that it should not interfere with doors open space in between conference room etc.
below provided plan for column beam symmetry and uniformity is maintenance also no clashes with doors. the column at the Periphery of the building can with stand certain amount of lateral loads
beam connection along vertical and horizontal ways are provided can also provide secondary beam / bracing /perling etc since the roof is slope

Result- given plan is analysed and alternative column beam design is provided

Q4

Aim- to define and model concrete column beam and slab for the RC colum building from previous GRIDS

introduction- TEKLA structure is used in the construction industry for steel and concrete detailing precast and cast in- situ the software enable user to create and manage 3D structural model in concrete or steel and guide them through the process from concept to fabrication given RC office building plan consist of two floors with flat parapet. Roof using tekla it is easy to model the structural framing as the material and design code are predefined also can be changed as per our requirement in addition grid system and construction level make the structural member placing easy .once a designed it can be checked for any errors like unconctivity/ overlapping etc

Procedure- define construction level for g + 1 floor RC office building

go to home toolbar >Manage property> define concrete column .

model toolbar> concrete column> click on A grid on which column to be placed by setting limits as a base to roof .

define concrete primary and secondary beam in a manage property model them in all floors.

similarly define slabs for one way and two way with different thickness model them

 Result-
1. construction level is defined
2.concrete column is defined and modeled
3.concrete beam is defined and modeled.
4.slab on beam is defined and modeled
