To calculate dead and live load for industrial steel structures and to apply them using TSD

  • AIM : To calc502ulate dead load in design report based on IS code and apply the dead load on model
  • PROCEDURE :
  1. Dead load = 1.2 Kn/M^2
  2. Finishes = 500 mm X 24 Kn/m^2 = 1.2 Kn/m^2
  3. Brick wall load = 0.15 X 20 X 5.2 = 15.6 Kn/m^2
  4. Brick wall load = 0.15 X 20 X 6.8 = 20.5 Kn/m^2
  5. Brick wall load = 0.15 X 20 X 14.5 = 14.5 Kn/m^2
  6. Roof load = 1.5Kn/m
  7. Ceiling load = 0.3 Kn/m
  • Open tekla software design software
  • Open week 3 file where we have createed a steel structure

  • Go to model tab and select slabs on beams option
  • Now odd slabs to each other
  • Now go to load tab and select load cases and add required load

  • Now select load combination and add what required

  • Select the level we want to apply loads on
  • Select the loads required from the list

  • Now go to select the area to apply load on slab

  • Go to load tab and select UDL to apply on brick wall
  • Apply loads on the roof as well

  • AIM : To calculate live load in design report based on IS code and apply live load on the model
  • PROCEDURE:
  1. Workshop = 5Kn/m^2
  2. Staircase = 5 Kn/n^2
  3. Corridor = 5 Kn/m^2
  4. Meetong room = 5 Kn/m^2
  5. Store room = 5Kn/M^2
  6. Toilet = 2 Kn/m^2
  7. Canteen = 3Kn/m^2
  8. Office room = 3Kn/m^2
  9. Conference ROom = 5Kn/m^2
  10. Equipment room = 10Kn/m^2
  11. Rest room = 2 Kn/m^2
  12. Administrative room = 5Kn/m^2

Live loads are applied for all the floors as shown below

  • Now select the level where we want to apply the loads
  • Now select the loads as required at the bottom, left corner

  • RESULT :

Calculation of live load in assign report based on IS code and application of live load on the model is done

  • AIM : Generate a calculation for 5 T crane loading based on the following inputs
  • PROCEDURE :
  1. Centre to Centre of wheel =10m
  2. Weight of crab = 40 Kn
  3. Number of wheel = 4
  4. Wheelbase = 2m
  5. Crane Capacity = 50 Kn
  6. Weight of trolley =10 Kn
  7. Hook Approach = 1

Maximum Point load on Crane = Crane capacity + Weight of the trolley

= 50 +10

=60

UDL = Self -Weight of crane distance between grant rails

= 40/14

=2.89 Kn/m

Moment at A :

Ma = 0

Rb = 80 X1 -RbX14 + 2.89X 14 X14/2

Rb = 24.5 Kn

Fy = 0

Ra + Rb - 60 -2.89 X 14 -Rb = 0

Ra = 60 +2.89X14-Rb

Ra = 75.9kN

Assume Self weight of gantry girder = 1.2 Kn/m

Assuming Self weight of gantry girder =0.3 Kn/m

Total self weight = 1.2+0.3

=1.5 Kn/m

Factored Loads =1.5 X1.5

=2.25Kn/m

Now loads on each wheel =37.9 X1.5

= 56.95 KN

= 57 Kn

Moment at c

Mc=0

Rd x 6 = 2.25 x6X6/2 +5.7 X4.5 +57X2.5

Rd = 73.25 Kn

Fy =0

Rc + Rd -57-57-2.25 X6

Rc +Rd =127.5Kn

Rc +Rd =127.5Kn

Rc = -73.25 +127.5

MAX SHEAR FORCE

MF =0

ReX6 - 57-57X4-2.25 X6X6/2=0

Re = 101.75Kn

IMPACT LOAD

= 10% Of wheel load

=0.1 X 101.75

=10.275 KN

V= WI/2

=1.5 X 62

=4.5Kn

Max shear force =4.5 +10.175+101.75

= 116.25 Kn

Lateral load analysis =5% of total weight

=5100 X 60

=3Kn
