Structural Modelling using Etabs 2018
Answer:
Data required for ETABS analysis:
- Pinned Support, Base + 9 story (Ground to terrace) + 1 Mumty
- Column 450mm x 600mm, Beam 400mm x 500mm, Slab 150 thick, Shear wall 300mm thick.
- Live load 2.5 kN/m2, Floor finish 1.5 kN/m2, Wall load 5 kN/m, Water tank 20K litre over mumty equivalent to 200 kN overall load.
Conceptual design considerations before analysis:
- Re-entrant and cutout check and modification (Compromise)
- Vertical irregularity (soft story)
- Planar irregularity (Looks symmetrical)
- 2% shear wall area with respect to the building area (8 m2)
- Stiffness modifier for Column, Beam & Shear wall (0.35 for beam 0.7 for vertical)
Open new model and let's start with grids and the stories:
Give custom grids and stories to the model as below:

Open plan view and 3d view in Etabs:

Next, we have to add material data to the model:
Add M25 grade concrete, HYSD 415 steel, and HYSD 500 steel to the data:

Now, select we have to select the frames by going to the section properties of define:

Add new properties of frames, i.e, Vertical and horizontal members:

Again add the new property to the frame:

Beams definition is completed.
After that add the column for a size of 400x400

and add the column of size 400X600:

Add the slab by going into slab selection:

Add the new slab with the properties given below:

Add the new slab with the following properties for the staircase:

Now its time to add wall properties in the wall property data as follows:

Defining the materials is completed, Now let's add the columns first using the quick draw option:

Assign the live loads according to the IS code book:

Apply floor finishing 1.5kN/m2

Next, define the earthquake loads:
Time period:

Along the x and y directions Ta=0.58

Add pier labels

Define Load combinations:

Check the modal before analysing it

Add Response Spectrum Function:

Add response spectrum load case:

Run the analysis and this is the deformed shape:

Adjust the response spectrum and base shear values:

Eq X:

Eq Y:

now base reactions due to shear wall is obtained in x and y direction.
