Sketch a G+1 residential plan according to Vaastu Shastra and Calculation of Loads as per IS code

AIM OF THE PROJECT :

To sketch a G+1 floor residential plan according to vaastu shastra, and list down the structural drawings required to be provided at site for construction.
Calculate the individual corresponding loads from members as per IS code.

INTRODUCTION :

Vaastu shastra followed during planning is :
Entance of the house is provided in North or East direction
Living room is placed in North east direction
Master bedroom is placed in South west position, this direction brings good health
Kitchen is provided in South east direction
Staircases is placed at North west corner
WC and toilet is placed in west direction.

Other dimensions :
Dimensions of column - 0.3m x 0.3m
Dimensions of beam - 0.3m x 0.45m
Thickness of slab - 0.25m
Height of wall of each floor - 3m
Thickness of external wall - 0.23m
Thickness of internal wall - 0.15

GROUND FLOOR PLAN :

In this plan the entrance is provided in North direction.

(All dimensions are in meters)

Dimensions of ground floor plan :
Living room - 4.5m x 5.48m
Kitchen room - 3.6m x 3.04m
Dining room - 3m x 3m
Master bed room - 4.3m x 3m
Toilet - 3.25m x 1.2m
WC - 1.2m x 2m

FIRST FLOOR PLAN :

(Dimensions are in meters)

Dimensions of first floor :
Bed room - 4.3m x 3m
Store room - 3.1m x 3m
Lobby - 6.5m x 3.1m
Toilet - 3.25m x 1.2m
WC - 1.2m x 2m

CALCULATION OF LOADS :

DEAD LOAD CALCULATIONS : (As per IS 875:1987 Part -1)

1.Dead load of columns
Dimensions of column = 0.3m x 0.3m
Height of column =(2 x slab thickness) + (height of wall for each floor x 2)
                            =(2 x 0.25) + (3 x 2) = 6.5m
Total volume = 0.3 x 0.3 x6.5 = 0.585m^3
Unit weight of RCC = 25KN/m^3
Dead load of column = 25 x 0.585 =14.62KN

2.Dead load of beams :
Size of beam = 0.3m x 0.45m
                       =0.135m^2
Unit weight of RCC = 25KN/m^3
Dead load of beam = 25 x 0.135 = 3.375KN/m

3.Dead load of slab :
Thickness of slab = 0.25m
Unit weight of RCC = 25KN/m^3
Dead load of slab = 0.25 x 25 = 6.25KN/m^2

4.Dead load of walls

Dead load of external wall :
Thickness of wall = 0.23m
Unit weight of brick wall = 20 KN/m^3
Height of wall = 3m
Dead load of wall = 3 x 0.23 x 20 = 13.8KN

Dead load of internal wall :
Thickness of wall = 0.15m
Height of wall = 3m
Dead load of internal wall = 3 x 0.15 x 20 = 9KN

LIVE LOAD CALCULATIONS : ( As per IS 875:1987 Part-2)

Bed room =2KN/m^2
Living room = 2KN/m^2
Kitchen = 2 KN/^2
Dining room = 2KN/m^2
Toilet = 2KN/m^2
Terrace = 3KN/m^2
Staircase = 3KN/m^2
Store room = 3KN/m^2

WIND LOAD : (As per IS 875:1987 Part-3)

Wind load is designed only when the height of the building exceeds 10m.
The height of designed building is 6m which is lessthan 10m
Hence , calculation of wind load is not required.

RESULTS :

The plan is prepared as per vaastu shastra concept considering all the principles.
The load calculations are done as per the IS code considerations.
