Ans1.
(a) Aim :-
To Sketch a G+1 floor residential plan, according to Vastu Shastra and also list down the name of the structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction also to calculate the individual corresponding load from the members as per IS code.
(b) Introduction :-
Vastu Shastra is an ancient Indian Science of architecture and act as a guideline to design the home in the way that enhance the positive energy.
The effect of sun rays, flow of winds, pull of Earth's magnetic field and other Sach cosmic energy is influence our life.
A good home needs to radiate the right kind of energy.
A person dwelling in house comes under the influence of a specific energy field.
We can make the most of nature's gift and live a life with wealth, health and success by learning to balance the five elements.
Significance of 8 directions :-
1. Four Cardinal directions = North, South ,East and West
2.Four intercardinal directions = North- East , North-west , South- East , South-west
3.Each direction signifies an aspect of life and is governed by various gods.
4.North - Wealth
5.South - Dharma
6.West & East - Overall prosperity.
(c)Ground floor plan :-

7.Living room - 4.5 x 3.5 m
8.Pooja room - 2.5 x 2.5 m
9.Dining room - 2.5 x 4.2 m
(d) First floor plan :-

1.Bedroom - 3.5 x 4.8m
2.Study room - 3 x 2.8m
3.Storage room - 1.4 x 2.8m
4.W.c.- 1.6 x 1.4m

Other dimensions :-
- Thickness of internal walls - 0.15m (150mm)
- Thickenss of external walls - 0.23m (230mm)
- Thickness of slab - 0.25m (250mm)
- Dimensions of column - 0.3 x0.3 m
- Dimensions of beam - 0.3 x 0.45 m

(e) Calculation of loads :-
1.Dead load calculations :-
(i) Dead load on columns :-
Dimensions of column - 0.3 x 0.3 m
Height of column - (slab thickness x 2) + (Height of wall for each floor x 2 )
= (0.25 x 2) + (3 x 2)
=6.5m
So.
Total Volume of concrete = 0.3 x 0.3 x 6.5 = 0.585 m^3
Unit weight of RCC = 25 KN/m^3 (as per IS 875 part (1) )
Hence,
Dead load on Column = 25 x 0.585 = 14.625 Kn
(ii) Dead load on beams :-
Dimensions of beam - 0.3 x 0.45 m
So,
Total volume of concrete = 0.3 x0.45 x 1 m = 0.135 m^3
Unit weight of RCC = 25KN /m^3 (As per IS 875 part(1) )
Hencr,
Dead load on beams = 25 x 0.135 = 3.375 KN
(iii).Dead load on slab :-
Slab is always designed for the span of 1m
So,
Let the size of slab be 1m x 1m
We Have,
Thickness of Slab = 0.25 m
Density of slab = 25KN/m^3
Therefore
Deadload of slab = 1 x 1 x 0.25 x 25 = 6.25 KN
(iv).Dead load of Walls :-
-Dead load for external walls
Thickness of external walls = 0.23m
Height of wall = 3m
Density of Brick walls = 20KN/m^3 (as per IS 875 part (1) )
So,
Deadload on external wall = 0.23 x 3 x 20 = 13.8 KN
- Dead load on internal walls
Thickness of internal wall = 0.15m
Height of wall = 3m
Density of Brick walls = 20KN/m^3 (as per IS 875 part (1) )
So,
Deadload on internal wall = 0.15 x 3 x 20 = 9 KN
2.Live load calculations :-
As per IS 875 part (2) , Live load for different rooms are as follows :-
1.BEDROOM - 2 kn/m^2
2.LIVING ROOM - 2 kn/m^2
3.BATHROOM - 2 kn/m^2
4.TOILET - 2 kn/m^2
5.STAIRCASE - 3 kn/m^2
6.TERRACE - 3 kn/m^2
7.STUDY ROOM - 2 kn/m^2
8.KITCHEN - 2 kn/m^2
3.Wind load calculations :-
As wind load is calculated for buildings having height more than 10m
But here, the total height of building is 6.5m
So ,
There is no need of calculation of wind load as the value 6.5 is smaller than 10
Hence,it is safe against wind load.
(f). Result :-
As per above calculations,we find out that
Dead load of column = 14.625 kn
Dead load of beam = 3.375 kn
Dead load of Wall
on external wall = 13.8 kn
on internal wall = 9 kn
Dead load of Slab = 6.25 kn
Height of building = 6.5 m
Live load on Bedroom as per IS 875 part 2 = 2 kn /m^2
Live load on Living room as per IS 875 part 2 = 2 kn /m^2
Live load on Bathroom as per IS 875 part 2 = 2 kn /m^2
Live load onToilet as per IS 875 part 2 = 2 kn /m^2
Live load on Staircase as per IS 875 part 2 = 3 kn /m^2
Live load on Terrace as per IS 875 part 2 = 3 kn /m^2
Live load on Study room as per IS 875 part 2 = 2 kn /m^2
Live load on Kitchen as per IS 875 part 2 = 2 kn /m^2
