Improvised section - 

As we can see in the above pictures the minimum moment of inertia is increasing in the improvised section and hence we can say that the design 2 is giving me more strength.

I1= 3.034*10^5

I2= 3.168*10^5

y=450

s1= 3.034*10^5/ 450

s1 = 674.222

s2= 3.168*10^5/450

s2= 704

As we can see from the calculations, the section modulus for second section is more than the first one, hence we can conclude that, improvised section has more strength .
