Roof Design

 AIM :-

For the Given Roof styling, create an ASSEMBLY by developing the essential flanges for the outer roof and creating the reinforcements.Provide appropriate dimensions and check for Draft analysis. Need to do a curvature study on the roof and perform calculations to determine the position of the Bow-roofs.

Here we got a seimens part file of a roof. So for the start up procedure to creation the roof assembly as well. The study of a roof position need to understand it is just simplify the start up to creation the Roof assembly. Here we have taken a Front Roof rail master section.

The procedure we  follow to creation the complete assembly of a roof as ;

  1. Making the outer roof panel.
  2. Creation the front roof rail.
  3. Bow_roof rail 1
  4. Centrel roof rail
  5. Bow_roof rail 2
  6. And final Rear roof rail.

In this way we need to go 6 procedure to completing the roof assembly design as well.

PROCEDURE_1 :- Making the outer roof panel.

First we need to create a new assembly name as a of roof assembly, & add component a roof seimense part file in their. After ward we need to create a new components as front roof rail, bore roof rail 1 & 2, Centre roof rail & final rear roof rail. After that activate the roof component and making a complete roof outer panel is there.

After that we need to take a simple extract of any one side & we followed the master section of a front roof. The roof position is mainly depends upon what kind opening of the  back door we have. The backdoor has open with the outer edge of the backdoor. The upper edge of the backdoor going inside of the hood axis then we have a different designs. So we have taken a Front Roof Rail.

All the surfaces are put in a single feature group as Parents. Then extarct a singel one side surface by using the command extract geometry & Hide the another surfaces as well.

Here we need to fill up that holes to clean surface purpose. By using the command untrim option.

Then extract surface will be created by untrim so compare with parent surface we need to trim  it as well, by using the trim sheet option.

Here need to take a trim  for thedesired surface. This is the styling surface & we can go forward to design it. This is only the clean stling half surface after completion the design we can mirror it.

PROCEDURE_2 :-      Making a Front Roof Rail by using a mater section.

from the master section we need to offset surface by 32 mm downward. This offseted surface need to exted little bit 5 mm, at left side, by the master section.

We need to go for drawing the flange, by the command low extension.

Here i have created the law extended to the roof outer panel & offseted Front Roof rail. With the following to the master section as well. The flanges are created front roof rail has shown as follows. At the end of a front roof rail the distance as 80 mm has tahken and trim is applied to the sheet.

For the creation of front roof rail end of Mastic Area we need to offset the outer panel again with 4.7+0.7*2,  with the downward direction to meet the master section design criateria.

The front roof rail at the end of a mastic section region we need to trim the sheet with the specified curve of thet created previous roof outer panel.

Here again to create a step mastic area at 2 places with an offsetted diamension are 2.7+0.7*2 for getting a proper front roof rail mastic region. Hence we  need to trim the sheet 2 times 1st at an distance 10 mm & 2nd is an 5 mm as  well.

Afterward we need to make a  join the edges by creating the studio  surfaces there. First join the surface and create a Datum  offset plane to trim the front roof rail to cut the  extra surfaces created there. Because at this region we attached or join the side flanges, front roof panel & A piller. So this gets a tringular shape at this region.

After that we can provide the easily edge fillet on thr front roof rail. The specific face bends are give to the front roof rail edges as images shown.

Front Roof Rail with Proper bends are applied.

PEOCEDURE_3 :- Creation of BOW Roof Rail 1 & 2.

Moving towards the Bore Roof Rail we need to create a Plane at a Distance of 500 mm from the front RR. This is because we need to take a flat surface not a curvy area to locate a Bow roof rail for the design guidelines & approach.

After that the intersection curve has created to the bore roof rail as we can consider that curve as a centre or edges of the bore roof. But here i choose this is a left edge of the bore roof. From this curve i take it offset towards the Rear end side.

Here we need to take a 2 times offset at a distance that thicken upward meanse outer panel direction. So offset the intersection curve at an 10 mm distance towards Rear RR & Offset the outer panel at an 0.75*2+5 that is 6.5 mm, That is mastic area.

First i have created a Offset of a outer panel is 6.5 mm downward. After that the Datum plane is created at a curve at an distance of 500 mm apart feomm the FRR. Beacuse we need a flat surface to creation the BOW_RR.

After we have created a intersection curve at an plane direction as a intersect to the surface. This intersection curve then again offset at an 15 mm distance to get in a bow roof first edge falnge. Then trimm the surface, as well.

Afterward we have again ofsseted the outer panel surface with an 6.5+5+7 mm for the 2nd step & like the same procedure trim & making a corner as done. In this way we have getted the complete outlook of a BOW RR.

The complete Bow RR has created as

Note :-

As the software issue, same like a hood design am facing a issue always the seperate referance sets to it. Finally the parts are not coming under the assembly. I clear with the support enginner Akash Ganesh sir they told me you are understand the project & concept dont lost the time you can sumbit the challenge.  So i have created the project 3 times but same issue am facing. I have gonne work with project 2 to 3 month so i sumbit this challenge. Plaese dont deduct my score. I hava submitted the file as your referance.

Thank you.
