1.What are HVAC systems ? Why are they essential in modeling of buildings

ans:

HVAC stands for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning This system provides heating and cooling to residential and commercial buildings. . The V in HVAC, or ventilation, is the process of replacing or exchanging air within a space. This provides a better quality of air indoors and involves the removal of moisture, smoke, odors, heat, dunt, airborne bacteria, carbon dioxide, and other gases as well as temperature control and oxygen replenishment

HVAC systems are responsible for the regulation of heat, airflow, ventilation, and air conditioning of an entire building You won't see the machines when you enter the building but you will most certainly feel the effects of a comfortable and well-ventilated workplace

Here are some of the top reasons why to have reliable HVAC systems in place for buildings.

• HVAC systems control the overall climate in the building. They also make the proper adjustments whenever we experience changes in outdoor temperature. During the winter season, the HVAC systems (mainly the boilers or heaters) work to keep the indoor temperature at a comfortable level. In hotter times of the season, the HVAC systems regulate air temperature by providing the necessary cooling to keep the entire building comfortable

• Having a comfortable office climate increases the level of productivity and increases morale amongst the workers and employees. If you let your people work in settings conducive for work they will surely be motivated to perform better because they feel good in their work environment. No employee will enjoy working in an office where it is freezing or in an office where you frequently have to ignore your perspiration just to focus on your computer screen. Having a proper HVAC system installed is guaranteed to make your employees happy, hence giving you better work results in return

• HVAC systems not only regulate the temperature inside the building, they also improve the quality of ait. The quality of air pertains to humidity, and a typical HVAC system will reduce the amount of humidity in the air so your workers and employees can continue enjoying a cozy and pleasant atmosphere at work

2. From week 7 assignment, based on the building designed use the same revit file to design a HVAC system for each floor to cover the topics included in class.
a. Typical HVAC unit includes Distribution center
b. Collector
c. Ducts
d. Blower

Aim: From week 7 assignment, based on the building designed use the same revit file to design a HVAC system for each floor to cover the topics included in class.
a. Typical HVAC unit includes Distribution center
b. Collector
c. Ducts
d. Blower

procedure:

open the system template and save it.

collabrate the project file and draw the grids and specify the cordinates 0'0"

open manage and select manage links and add week7 project file to it and relocate it.

open the system tab select air terminal and select supply diifuser and return difuuser.

select mechanical unit and place thee air handling units.

and select the diffusers and click duct and create layout and click finish

we can see that havac is created for week7 file.

3) Use the add-ins tab to load plug-ins for robot structural analysis to your Revit software?

Open the shopping cart icon on the top left side autodesk app store will open Click on the search tab and type structural analysis toolkit proffessional 2021 and select the appropiate version and install the file.Robot structural analysis will be added in revit if not search in autodesk from google

4) Why do we need to assess buildings /analyze while modeling elements ? Does design affect modeling in anyways ?

ans: the determination of the effects of loads on physical structures and their component. Structures subject to this type of analysis include all thatmust withstand loads, such as buildings, bridges, aircraft and ships. The results of the analysis are used to verify a structure's fitness for use, often precluding physical tests. Structural analysis is thus a key part of the engineering design structures It is a method by which we find out how a structure or a member of a structure behaves when subjected to different loads. The results of the analysis are used to verify thestructure's strength for its uses. Structural analysis is thus a key part of structural engineering

Response means to find out support reactions, bending moment, rotation, stresses, strains, shear force, and deflection that the particular member would undergo due to the application of different types of load. Analysis of a structure involves its study from the viewpoint of its strength, stiffness, stability, and vibration

For a structural engineer to start a structural design, he/she must have the loads, or forces and moments that a particular member and the structure as a whole have to resist

Unless there are determined the design cannot start. Hence structure analysis is condition precedent to structural analysis Design affects the modelling as it involves many important load factors which are important for a building to withstand and suppose we have done a modelling of a building and there are some design change at any particular portion of the building we have to do the modelling as per the design

5) From the structural model developed in week 6 and 7, export the complete analytical model to robot structural analysis.
a. List your assumptions on what boundary conditions will be realistic for analysis approach
b. Use the design standards to decide what loads must be applied to floorings based on the type of structure decided
c. List the load combinations and include them in analysis model
d. Analyze the building and report the following results
i. Maximum Moment in each floor for all Load Combinations
ii. Maximum Displacement in each floor for all Load combinations
iii. Lateral Displacement in building for all Lateral Load combinations
e. After analysis , do you think you have a better approach or idea in modeling structural members ?

ans:

a:

the external force or the displacement are known at the start of the analysis. In this way, boundary conditions are where the structure interacts with the environment either through the application of an external force or through some restraint that is imposing a displacement. For a structural analysis problem to be solvable, every location on the boundary of our structure must have a known boundary condition either a known force or a known displacement. The known force or displacement may have some magnitude or it may be zero.

1 Degrees of freedom

2 Restraints and support

b;

loads are applied to project are

live load and dead load

c;

load combinations are in the building are

1)1.5(dl+LL)

2)1.25dd+1.75ll

procedure:

open the week7 structural file and select 3d analytical view

open the manage tab and select structural settings andload combinations

define load combinations by addibg defining load factor

clock ok and select the boundary condintions from analysis tab and type of boundary(fixed, pinned, roller etc)

cliclk on analysis and select type of load we can see that load has been applied

results:

d: my laptop is not supporting the 2021 robot analysis version iam not able to do.

but i know the procedure and process

6) What is energy analysis and why do we need to consider it while modeling in Revit ?

How does the factor of sustainability improve the quality of your design ?

Ans:- the traditional method of assessing the way energy is used in an operation involving the physical or chemical processing of materials and theand/or conversion of energytransfer.Whole building energy simulation measures expected energy use (fuel and electricity) based on the building's geometry, climate, building type, envelope properties, and active systems (HVAC & Lighting). It takes into account the interdependencies of the building as a whole system.

To perform whole building energy simulation for your Revit models, use Energy Analysis for Autodesk Revit. This add-in connects the design power of Revit to the analysispower of Autodesk Green Building Studio

The basic objectives of sustainability are to reduce consumption of non-renewable resources, minimize waste, and create healthy, productive environments.
