Reinforcement detailing of Columns from ETABS output

Aim: To create detailed structural reinforcement of a column 3A and 3B as per the design achieved from Etabs.

Introduction: In this task the design details will be noted from the Etabs and sketch down the reinforcement details for the same using Autocad.

Procedure:

  • To have a clear view of the column, select the column and right click and clikc on show only selected object as shown in fig A.

Fig A: Selection of objects to isolate the view.

  • Now in Fig B we can see that only selected object can be viewed.

Fig B: Selected object is only shown.

  • Now go to elevation view having the view along grid view and run the concrete fram design and view the longitudinal reinforcement design of the selected object. Fig C shows the longitudinal design of the selected column.

Fig C: Total longitudinal design reinforcing.

  • Fig D shows the Shear reinforcing design details.

Fig D: Shear reinforcing design details.

  • Fig E shows the detail reinforcement of the column 3B and 3A.

Fig E: Structural detail of a column.

  • Fig F shows the shear reinforcement & lapping details as per special confining reinforcement provision of clause 8.1 of IS 13920 - 2016.

Fig F: shear reinforcement & lapping details as per special confining reinforcement provision of clause 8.1 of IS 13920 - 2016.

Here lo is Maximum of the following

1) Larger of coumn dimension

2) 1/4 of clear span of column

3) 450 mm

Confinement spacing not more than

1) 1/4 of smaller column dimension

2) 6 times of dia of column main bar

3) 100 mm

The amount of confinement rebar:

Conclusion

In this task detail reinforcement design is provided as per Etabs and IS 13920 2016 code.

We have provided confinement spacing of 100mm upto 650 mm from joints and Ash is 169 mm2
